Maybach 57/57S Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec first production unit emerges

The Maybach 57 (chassis code W240) and 62 (chassis code V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). They are derived from the Mercedes-Benz Maybach concept car presented at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show. The concept car was based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class sedan platform, as were the production models. The models ceased production in February 2013 due to continued financial losses for the brand, with sales at one-fifth the level of the profitable Rolls-Royce models.
Exactly. The CL offers much more substance and less bling and you're not forced to look at what in essence is a W220 interior with slightly upgraded materials.

Seriously? did u ever had the pleasure of sitting in a MM?..the materials are world apart.

Don't mean to interrupt this fan boy cock fight but I think the front looks ungainly and absolutely horrid. The only good angles are from the back and side. The interior has got to go. If I were in the market for this caliber I'd want something that had some timeless elegance inside. This car has a glorified W220 interior and ostentatious styling that looks more fitting on a chinese knock-off. my .02...

True. They will impossibly give up when VAG and BMW AG have successfully injected life into old brands like Mini, RR, Bentley and Bugatti. Heading over to the CLS thread it is hard to imagine that MB are incapable of producing an admirable luxury four door sedan.

With the Maybach project they chose the easy route to enter the market by cutting corners i.e walk into a warehouse and dust off leftover W140 chassi en emptying the W220 spare part containers. But they caught out and have paid a big price for it. I personally think that MB should present a Maybach concept that shows that there's life after death for the brand and its reincarnation.

Yes, the problem with the Maybach brand it that it is virtually an unknown name outside of Western Europe and for anybody less than 60 years old.

I think Mercedes did an admirable job in engineering the Maybach using some W140 and W220 underpinnings. But the problem was that the Maybach's styling was too much like the S Class and there were a few highly-visible items that were derived from the S Class. Mercedes-Maybach's competitors seized on this and began calling the Maybach as nothing more than a "glorified S Class".

The next Maybach must be TOTALLY different to the next S Class in ALL visible ways. The exterior must be sport a different shape and proportion. All interior parts must be bespoke.

I am still a little confused as to the rumours of Aston Martin building the Maybach for Mercedes.....................Can Aston Martin build a better limosine than Mercedes?

Actually, Maybach is quite well known in the States, and mostly by younger demographics (in fact, the problem for them IMO is that older demographics don't know of it enough, or see it as some glorified Pop Culture schtick... I.e, the ones who might afford it, don't want anything to do with what it implies). It's most vast form of popularity is with the Hip-Hop ghetto-fab culture. Rappers still use it in Video's, and song titles/lyrics ("Maybach Music", etc.). This hasn't helped it with enthusiasts, of course, as Rappers seem to be the only ones dumb enough to buy a price tag, i.e, they don't care to notice how archaic, or butt a$$ ugly and dated the car looks. If it costs $400K, and has the cache to their culture, it is embedded as one of their ultimate show-off cars. Of course, on the flip side, not many cars (read, no cars really) offer such extravagant luxury, but I think anyone with half a brain would pick the Phantom every single time.

In the US, Maybachs are owned by rappers, sports stars, and actors...................

Not the kind of demography that helps build a respectable image.

Moskva is the Maybach capital, with about 130 registered, one of the highest concentrations.
The USA takes a quarter to a third of the production, with Jay Z andd Jay Leno notable owners.

The very first example of the Xenatec Maybach 57S Coupe has been put up for sale by Saudi-Arabian-based luxury car dealer, AutoKingdom, which is one of two companies outside of Germany listed as an official dealer of the limited production model, the other being the ArmorTech Group from Russia.

The Maybach-endorsed coupe, which carries the ‘Cruiserio’ nametag, is priced by AutoKingdom at €715,000, or about US$943,000 at the current exchange rates, according to Jameslist. Previously, Xenatec had announced that the über-luxurious coupe will be offered at an ex-works price of €675,000 (US$890,000) excluding local taxes.

The German company plans to hand-build a total of 100 examples of the Maybach 57S Cruisero Coupe, which keeps the four-door limousine’s 6.0-liter V12 engine with an output of 612-horsepower (603-bhp) and 1,000Nm or 737 lb-ft of torque. Xenatec claims the 5,768mm -long coupe can reach a top speed of 275 km/h or 171mph and return an average fuel consumption of 16.4 lt/100km or 14.2 mpg US.

^Man i laugh so hard whenever i see someone faults the interior of a MM..u may not like the exterior design but the interior is just divine.

Well it isn't the quality/materials/build, it is the design. It is so old and out of date compared to a Mercedes. Next time around it should be way ahead of the S-Class' interior and/or look nothing like it.

Sure it is, for a 1998 car. Quality is of course top notch, but tech and design? L.O.L

As for this aftermarket coupe....it's actually quite good looking after digesting it for some time. Only the front bumper has way too much bling.

Hell no :t-cheers:

They need to move fast.
Maybach are heavily exposed and outclassed.
Bentley are moving quickly on replacements for the Brooklands and azure and Rolls-Royce are just not intending on celebrating their centenary with a ltd edition Phantom.

Even the design looks more modern the old styled phantom interior IMO..something u'll notice when u sit in the phantom and then a 62S.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
