Please, can anyone who speaks Dutch translate what the Dutch Jeremy Clarkson look-a-like is saying about the cars?

Rolls-Royce Phantom for me please.

The Maybach 57S is a pointless car IMO. I mean, who in their right mind would want a 5.70 metres, 2.00 metres Sport Saloon that weighs 2.700 Kilograms?

The thing is, the ultra-luxury/performance mix has worked brilliantly for Bentley. Most buyers of Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, and Maybachs will drive themselves so the driving experience does have a lot of relevance. The Phantom does offer very good performance too -- it's just not as quick obviously.

I really like the Maybach 57S -- but you get pretty much the same with a Merc S65. I would also choose the Phantom, it really is unique and special.

Originally said by the Dutch Clarkson:
Conclussie: Maybach blijft een Mercedes en een Rolls is het neusje van de zalm.

translated to English...

Conclusion: Maybach is clearly made by Mercedes and a Rolls has real distinction.

Spot on conclusion.

If I had to nitpick, and obvious I will do. When I went to check out a Maybach 57 in London in 2005, I was surprised to find out, the 57 looks just as plain as in the pics: It really is a dull looking thing. And then I climbed into the interior. Yes. It's very well built and comfortable, but why the buttons for the front and rear seats electric adjustments, were exactly the same as in my father's E320 Diesel?

well guys i have a maybach 57 and have driven both the 57s and the phantom..

in my experiance... the rolls is a verry luxurius car... but it has 2 major flaws... one you look like an ass driving it... and sitting in the back, unless you are a older person... i would say 50's and above...

the 57 i have.... i love it... i drive it to work and do the back seat thing also... the gadgets are a big pluss... and its realy comfertable both driving and back seat lounging.... i find the best feture of the car is that the AC system and fridge stay on even when the car is sitting (turned off) in the sun... but if you realy dont use the features and travel allot in your car... i wouldnt buy the maybach... but still it is an office on wheels.. and that suets my needs.

the 57s drives more sporty.. and can be ordered with the carbon fiber interior... but there realy isnt any big difrence from mine...

both the maybach and phantom arnt for every one...

but give me a maybach any day:usa7uh:

After watching that (and not understanding a word of it) it is definitely the Maybach 57S for me. The Rolls my be more "special", but it does nothing for me. I want the Rolls Convertible, not this.

Your point is an important one abunawafff, the Phantom does have a very bold image and makes a very big statement. The Maybach is perhaps less pretentious. The only thing is, I don't believe the Maybach's understatement is at all intentional or very helpful to the Maybach in terms of sales.

Mark my words, the next generation Maybachs will be much more like the Phantom, ie. loud and proud, bold and showy.

The Maybach was never intended to be conservative and stealthy -- which is a polite way of saying uninspiring and dull.

Thanks for being cool, Kowalski. Very kind of you, man! :usa7uh:
