Above posts:

Yeah, I saw that. We can only hope, something I have been saying for a while. I think if the AT&T cases are real and that is in fact AT&T ordering them, then I think it is reasonable to believe that AT&T may know something about the upcoming phone(s).

It's becoming increasingly apparent that Apple will only present the iPhone 4S (in-house code name "N94") on Tuesday...

If anything, it is becoming increasingly apparent that both 4S and 5 are coming. (That is, if you call "apparent" the folly of blogs hyperventilating on the matter). Three days now.

I hope they won't disappoint, the i4 is really running out of steam, i can't imagine anyone would actually buy one at its current price. OS aside (as i don't want to compare since it's subjective), everything with the GS2 seems superior - screen/speed.. well what else.. the i4 looks a generation behind, and in fact it really is, even the design itself is a generation behind. I have people starting to tell me that they think the i3G/3GS is starting to look better than the i4, i guess because of the lesser empty space between the top edge and the screen, and the more roundy/curved backside that aligns more with other Apple products. So I cannot imagine simply a hardware/software upgrade, the i4 is behind in all areas including its exterior design. And it would be stupid too, if you put a 8M camera, A5 chip and HD screen on it and brand it a 4S, why not just design a different case, get a bigger HD screen and call it a 5 and have everyone buying it again.
Back in the 3G/3GS days, they got away with it, since the iPhone was such a fresh invention that it virtually had zero competition, Andriod was no where near as where they are now comparatively, and Samsung was still "partner" to Apple.. the 3GS simply kicked ass, it was the best thing to have.. The smart phone market has changed so much that I don't think Apple can rely on their previous business model when it comes to phones. HTC is to release a cheap smartphone, and it's gona be a breeze for every Android handset maker to make cheap smartphones (because they have always made cheap models in the past)... i mean Apple has its own stickiness, but it only works to a certain extent... when something 10% cheaper that does the same thing as you, OK you might be loyal and keep buying Apple, but when the competition is offering something -30%, well i'm not going to let you scam money off me juz coz i'm loyal, cos no one is.

Actually the 4, 4S and 5 can come together. 4 is gona replace the current 3GS, with minimal changes apart from a shrunken memory, and remain on the iOS 4, while 4S is a better model with new processor (etc) and then the 5 being the top model, with a price higher than what they are selling the 4 at now.. which still makes sense, the GS2 is more expensive than the i4 now so they do have a bit of room to move with prices. That way they open up their model line up, capturing more niche with still just two physical designs.

The existance of the 4S means there won´t be a new iPhone 5 next Tuesday?.

This is all really interesting. I have been keeping up with macrumors and other mac sites during the past few days and it really seems that Apple has taken steps to control some of these rumors.

For example, look at this: Cheaper iPhone 4 'N90A' Photos Leak from Foxconn Factory - Mac Rumors

If this is the case, then the current iPhone 4 may see a reduction in capacity and may become the inexpensive iPhone that everyone wants. It may even be free with certain carriers. Then, having this iPhone 4 move into that slot would give way for something else. Considering there is confirmation based on leaks of parts and what not, the iPhone 4s is more than likely that phone that will take the premium spot. I don't really see Apple having the iPhone 4 at $0 or $99 then the iPhone 4s at $? with an iPhone 5 being the flagship. Granted, I would love that but I just do not see it.

Also, take a look at this:

It seems like Apple is once again trying to remind us that there will only be one phone launched on Tuesday. Granted, this was also released in Aug at some point and it had the same information but we can only speculate as to whether Apple really knows this information is leaking out.

Also, with respect to the rumors about AT&T getting cases, there actually is NO CONFIRMATION that AT&T has received any cases. Many members on those forums that work at AT&T corporate stores have dispelled such rumors by saying that they have received no cases and that the rumor itself with the picture showing the case proves nothings since no one has stepped up to admit that it was in fact taken at an AT&T store. So, it could be anyone anywhere taking a random picture simply saying that it was at an AT&T store. (Also, some have noted it is not in the typical AT&T packaging).

Honestly, whether Apple releases a new design or not, people are still going to stand in line and buy it. This already happened with the 3Gs and it seems to be a fact of life. It could well be possible that the iPhone 5 that we have seen does exist or will exist but not just yet. Maybe Apple will realign their release cycles releasing the iPhone 5/6 in June. I really don't know. There is one thing that is certain: if in fact Apples does released an iPhone 5 on tuesday, it will be the best kept secret ever.

No, i don't think there will be people lining up for the iPhone 4S if the thing looks the same as the 4. You really cannot compare to the 3G vs 3GS, point was the 3G was great, but slow, but still it was pretty much the only real smart phone out there, then the 3GS was vastly improved, and mind you, 3GS was damn quick back in the days when we were on iOS 3! things felt smoother than an i4 on iOS 4. It had zero competition, wasn't even familiar with the word "Android", i think i thought Windows mobile was the way to go back then, and heat sensing touch screens, being so smooth, was something very cool and unique.. (touch screens were still sensed by pressure using a stylus if you remember how they work back then). So that was why the 3GS sold so well, i for one was a 3GS buyer because the 3G did not fulfil what i wanted, and i had no other similar choices.

Now, geez, HTC, Samsung, LG, SE even Motorola soon i guess, offer devices that are in no way inferior, the difference is the OS, and Android is no longer inferior now. I mean, if they bother to wait one full year then release some little upgrade with the same design, it's going to be an epic fail, honestly, me as a 3GS owner, will go straight to the GS2 (well, most likely unless i can still live with the crap battery life); current i4 owners will not even bother. And iOS is all about stickiness, i'm pretty sure if i left for Android, i'm not going to come back to Apple any time soon.

Some humor. :D

Ten Iphone 5 'facts'

Not strictly true

Hovering phone
The Iphone 5 will be the first Apple handset to hover above surfaces. The hover method should not be confused with that used for channel crossings, this was deemed too noisy in tests and made the handset too bulky.

The hovering will be almost invisible to the naked eye, like a hummingbird's wings in motion, and will only be used to prevent lower surface scratches when the device is placed down.

Beard trimmer
The Iphone 5 will double as a beard trimmer. This is expected to have significant appeal amongst beardies who like to stay on top of their foliage, but might also be useful to edge lawns or smooth edges when working with wood.

With beards becoming increasingly popular amongst CEOs and technology workers in general, Apple might think that the space and size sacrifices are worth it for the good housekeeping credits.

Security
The Iphone 5 will come with a length of material that can be attached to the user's wrist. This is made of spider's silk and is both flexible, should you wander around a corner without holding your phone, and strong, should a criminal attempt to take it and run away with it.

Apple might not proceed with this plan, sources suggest, as spiders are icky and hard to catch, and it was a bad idea from the start.

Better security
Each Apple Iphone buyer will receive a rubber version of their handset for free on purchase. This decoy model is to be used when travelling in rough areas, as vapid phone calls can be acted out using the device, without risking the loss of the real model.

Should a mugger approach, the user will be able to run away with their real Iphone 5 and other Apple goodies, simply by hurling the decoy at the mugger or in the opposite direction.

Personal safety
The Iphone 5 has a pop out airbag that inflates via a motion sensor when it detects the user is in danger. Whether in the car or lost at sea, or even walking on uneven ground, the airbag can be a real life saver.

Versatility
Apple is looking to diversify its audience still further, so it has made an Iphone 5 so that can transform into a hook, so every pirate will buy one. Containing the same technology used to make the early transformers - the real deal, not the toy - Apple's new model can turn into a hook that will fit quite nicely on the end of any pirate's arm. Even better, it still works as a phone when it's in its hook mode.

Free polo neck shirt
The Iphone 5 will come with a free black polo neck shirt so that members of Steve Job's clan can emulate their leader. The polo shirt contains an additional see through pocket, so Iphone fans can display their holy Apple wares to others.

Can make phone calls
State of the art technology allows the Iphone to make phone calls, no matter how it is held. However, sources tell us it works better when it is held on the left hand side, slightly tilted at a 40 degree angle. A case is also available for better reception, costing $100 on top of the price of the device.

Can turn into a green robot

This one we are not supposed to know about but, using the transformer technology we mentioned above, the Iphone 5 can also turn into a green robot. Sources suggest that the purpose of this is to infiltrate Google, or something.

Re-badged Iphone 4
Suggestions that the Iphone 5 is actually an Iphone 4 with an Iphone 5 sticker on it are thought to be based on nonsense. For one thing the Iphone 5 is supposed to be a bit bigger than the previous model, but that might be because of the beard trimmer.

I do not agree with everything you have said. Before I address any of it, however, let me just say this: I too want a redesigned iPhone 5. I am with everyone that is upset that there may not be a redesigned iPhone, but to be honest with you it wouldn't surprise me and it wouldn't be out of line for Apple to do. With that said, I HIGHLY HIGHLY doubt Apple is in trouble. They have an superb business model and it is working out pretty well for them.

If we only get an iPhone 4s tomorrow I can guarantee you that many current iPhone 4 owners will jump on board and buy one. A spec bump, like the one that is rumored, alone is enough of a spec bump to make many current owners buy it; and if true that the spec bump of 1gb of ram was to handle the new assistant feature that has been discussed in countless blogs, I am sure it will be a major selling point. A study of about 2,500 people showed that 30%(+/- a few I forget the exact number) are going to jump ship from their current phone to the new iPhone. All of those polled did not own any type of iPhone.

While I agree that Apple should have a redesigned iPhone 5, it may not happen at least not tomorrow. We will have to wait and see.

I think I will have to go with the 4S. I like the current design and it will make do for another year. My 3GS is on its last leg and I need a replacement. Maybe I should go for a cheap 32 GB iPhone 4, if the difference is not that big.

This guy has to be the least credible person out there with the most illogical explanations for why there has to be an iPhone 5. Again, I like everyone else wants a new iPhone 5 and pray that it does show up tomorrow but a lot of the evidence and the lack of evidence supports there will be no iPhone 5.

AT&T having an inventory of cases means nothing. By the way, the AT&T story has already been confirmed to not have been true. Second, many carriers are using the term "iPhone 5" as a place holder for whatever it is that Apple introduces tomorrow.

I am not longer keeping my hopes up. I am getting ready for the same form factor but with supercharged guts.
