Just saw the Throttle House review.

WHAT! A! PATHETIC! CAR!

It can’t do anything really good, it weighs as much as my S class, as an AMG it’s a travesty, it’s absurdly priced and, indeed, nobody asked for that E BS.

PS I reckon it’s party time at the Munich 4 cylinder building.

Thank you Mick for watching the review so I didn't have to and prove my pessimism right.

Biggest Mercedes POS since the w205 C32 amg?

Sell very well…? That’s not what I’ve been hearing so far. Why do think it will?

I remember similar shifts before, just experience. I know people who buy these types cars never care for any reviews. Some aren't even really car people, they'll get the latest thing, very obviously the litmus test will be the numbers. So we will see. I don't believe it'll flop.

But what is the average weight of a car or SUV or electric car sold these days anyway? Just saying.

I'm not sure that if it starts to form like a flop we will receive comprehensive sales data to judge if it is such or not. Its sales will be combined with the AMG C43 and who knows what else, in order to be presented as a success.

I know lots of people, who don’t care for reviews. These people however do care very much and are well aware of which car they want to buy and drive. Usually 4 cylinder PHEV with so called F1 derived technology, which don’t excel at anything in particular but cost well into six-figure territory, are not among them.

I'll await the actual owner reviews after they've purchased them. Because it's the direct experiences I look at, and the figures and I'll not get an idea until that occurs and many other things. These videos play a part ofcourse.

But yeah definitely interesting, but I'll leave it there. I remember a similar situation with another hybrid last year.

My guess is that owners will be like "I should have kept my old C63" or "I should have upgraded to the E63" or worse... "I should have a bought a Tesla Model 3"... The last one = Yikes!

I don't think it does either, people are not stupid, and a car for "connoisseurs" that must improve a lot to be just bad and not very bad as it is, is not the way.

I think here you hit the nail on the head. Who in his right mind, would spend more than 100.000 for this car?

Many would. I'd take it over your S class any day of the week.
And besides, you make it sound as if 100k for a car with 700 hp factory is expensive?? It really is not.

150k here in Holland is a bit much for a 4 pot though lol

> 100.000 (starting price in Germany is a few € shy of 115.000) for this particular car is. It’s in the line-up of MB a rather small sedan, with a predominantly plastic orientated interior, a 4 pot and an over engineered drivetrain.
Just for the record, it’s 670 hp or 680 pk or 500 kW.
Edit which are not constantly available

On the contrary, people are stupid and some of them paid a quarter of a million U.S dollars (each) to die in a makeshift submersible built by a con man.

Still, I think the C32 is worthier of being an AMG C-class rather than some 2,000 kilograms+ plug-in hybrid four cylinder contraption.

Many people read reviews, and buy cars based off a review.

How else do you think porsche can sell gt3’s to people for 300k and at the same time those people have no intention of taking it on the track.

Its not a 300k car a pista is a 300k car, and ultimately a 2.5 tonne c63 that sometimes has 670hp but isnt actually that fast and costs 110k will have a super poor resale value. And a poor resale means sky high monthly payments, and ultimately monthly payments is what most people look at when buying a car.

No recession plus die hard amg fans not wanting it, plus high interest rates, poor resale value,

Its like why porsche made the 4.0 GTS, because the 4 cylinder was selling poorly in the US, and with the US and Australia, massive v8 fans being some of AMG’s biggest markets, i can see this not selling well.

I would buy one purely for the wife to drive around in, in electric mode to the local super market, but to own one outside of warranty, no way

If Mercedes put this level of over engineering back into simple things like build quality, they’d have something. This car with a 600hp V8 and no electrics would have been a proper send off. What will happen at facelift time?
