This car with a 600hp V8 and no electrics would have been a proper send off. What will happen at facelift time?
In 10 years, they will admit that e-performance AMG models were a mistake. However, they can’t do that today that that branding underpins the AMG-ONE.

You can’t piss on your own lawn when customers of the later spent $1-2m on Mercs and $2-3m on the car itself, haven’t taken delivery yet.

Porsche and BMW Have probably unintentionally hedged their bets. They have both ICE and hybrid flagship cars that will be on sale for another 5-7 years.

The only thing that can save the AMG brand is a couple of non-hybrid AMG GT, but they are pie in the sky for the middle class.

If something matters to them, those of the Mercedes group should fire everyone who had to do with the development of this vehicle and the system in general that seems to not work in any of their models and they still include it but instead of improving it they make it worse .

I just watched the video and the car is a piece of garbage made with one of the most representative and popular nomenclatures of the brand, great strategy!

This new C63 S is a major disappointment and must be the worst C63 model so far to be produced by AMG. All the previous models were legends in their own right. The C204 is perhaps the best model in my opinion as it combined great looks with a brilliant NA 6.2 V8.

The problem with Mercedes is that they never heard about the KISS principle.

Keep It Simple Stupid.

All Mercedes-AMG had to do with the W206 C63 was simply to keep the twin-turbo V8, add more power to the twin-turbo V8, harness the extra power with 4Matic and... That's about it. Nice and simple.

"The all new Mercedes-AMG C63. Still a twin-turbo V8 beast, but now with more grip".

Call me a cynical bastard if you want, but I'm not buying into this story.

I'm not buying this humble attitude from Mercedes-AMG: "Sorry, we messed up and we're reverting to V8, albeit hybrid on the W206 facelift. Rest assured, the W214 E63 will feature a V8 Hybrid setup".

Yeah, right... f#ck off.

If the sales aren't there AND the EOP is being extended, bringing back the V8 for ~5-6 years makes sense to me

They testing that shite right now lol. Thing is what do they do about the current C63?

Why not? Porsche did it. 4.0 GTS purely to appease the american market that didnt want 4 cylinder cayman or boxster

It just amazes me that they thought a 4 could replace an 8. V8s are what AMG is all about with a stray V12 and 6–cylinders as supporting cast. It’s a pity because this new C is one of most handsome cars on the road.

I continue to say it but Mercedes better get their shite together. Other brands are executing better all around them. Once you fall out of favor it’s near impossible to get that position back.

Hm. From my POV it isn't completely comparable. The 2,5l turbo B4 in the 718 did sound really bad. Ok. But from performance perspective it was a win. I even think, that in some areas the performance of the 2,5 B4 718 is even better than the 4.0 NA GTS! And Porsche did not replace the Cayman S (B4 turbo). They added another option with the GTS.
So from Porsche their was NO admit, that the turbo B4 was a complete failure. No need as it wasn't.
If AMG would replace the I4 with a bigger engine in the C63 ... it would be nothing than a full on admit, that the current C63S simply is a desaster! On the one hand this needs balls from AMG side and I would applaud them ... on the other hand ... what do you tell your customers, who bought that shite?

Of course, well marked the difference

Applauding in their faces would be more appropriate, perhaps this is how Mercedes learn that cheap is expensive, it is not a matter of balls but of greed to the detriment of the brand and its values.

For the next few years it is a problem without a solution, or apologies that are worth, in addition to being harmful to the brand's coffers and consumers who will not have the indicated offer.
