C-Class [Hot!] 2022 Mercedes-AMG C63S (W206)

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a series of compact executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz Group AG. Introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 190 (W201) range, the C-Class was the smallest model in the marque's line-up until the W168 A-Class arrived in 1997.

If that's the only reason then its a useless hybrid since there's no range to talk about and efficiency is similar as to the previous V8.
Why complicate the drivetrain when you can simply put the I6 and add the fancy electric turbos.

Yes, Ferrari did the hybrid well because they managed to keep the weight pretty low at under 1700 kg.
It is useless. By the way, even worse, André, it’s less efficient than the predecessor with V8 engine (see automotorundsport test, of which I wrote some bits and pieces #397). AMG-Mercedes-PHEV is a pathetic combination. If I were an engineer at AMG, I’d resign immediatly.

You understand wrong my friend. It has an astounding electric only range of -

Like I said, not for the non-existent electric range 😉
Driving to my office in the morning, after that distance, I even haven’t had my first sip of coffee.

That's why Merc is looking to collab with someone who actually knows what they're doing with BEVs: Rimac. Heard a rumor about the new AMG GT and Rimac's involvement because MB can't handle BEVs (yet)...

I’ve never heard that at all. As Battista mentioned, they were collaborating with YASA before eventually buying them altogether.

Rimac is owned by VAG, how could they collaborate with Mercedes?

They are in a joint venture concerning Bugatti, not owned by VAG. Free to pursue other dreams with others if they wanted. And as a matter of fact, they have a majority share in this venture, so if anything Rimac has control over VAG here.

Off topic, but VAG has gone mad giving Bugatti to f'ing n00bs.

This is already discussed here. Check the facts.

Off topic but need to state that Mate Rimac is a better leader, better car guy, better visionary, more humble than any of the Bugatti/VW puppet wannabe execs aka Winkelmann and the rest. Plus just wait what the car after the Chiron will be. I’ve heard rumors and it will be absolutely insane. Goosebumps…

Some bits and pieces from the automotorsport test (magazine 14, june 15. 2023).
- weight 2.171 kg, weight of it’s predecessor (C63 non S) 1.832 kg. The V8 of latter weighs only 45 kg more than the I4 cylinder base engine;
- test fuel consumption 12,7 l/100 km. Test fuel consumption C63 V8: circa 1 l/100 km less;
- braking distance 100 km/h - 0 km/h 34,5 (cold) 34,4 (warm). Mick: “I’m almost sure my S has better breaking distance figures”.;
- 0 - 100 km in 3,3 seconds. Truth be told, after a launch control start, it needs a short breather (one track lap) before it can do that again;
- it does have a small turbo gap (although it’s equiped with an electronic turbocharger;
- “although this 63er is quite a performer, it doesn’t give any joy” Jörn Thomas: Chief reporter;
- it’s grip is tremendously good;
- at higher speeds (> 230 km/h) it gets bouncy and fidgety;

During the test, the car broke down. The AMG on board computer forbid to drive any further and the car was towed. According to AMG there was no mechanical failure. Apparently two control units, responsible for the E-turbocharger couldn’t agree on a troubleshooting strategy.

Thanks for all!

May help. May not.🙂
Especially for @klier
Bugatti Rimac D.O.O. shareholders:
Porsche 45%+22% out of the other 55%=45%+12,1%=57,1%
Mate Rimac 33% out of 55%=18,15%
So VAG owns 57,1% and Mate Rimac 18,15%

Better to tell Wikipedia
Mate is in control of Rimac, and Rimac is in control of Bugatti by that scheme. Porsche has a hand everywhere.

So who is in charge? Rimac by the looks of things.
Weird is an understatement, but it's a great recipe for internal drama! Mix in some Hyundai and we have true disorder.

I'm not even going to watch, because they're gonna be disappointed with it.

Mercedes is on a roll of sheer stupidity with this F1 tech. And if you're a BMW fanboy and wants to hit the like button, I'm afraid to tell you that BMW is on an ugly roll of stupidity, so f#ck off. And electrification is making BMW get fat as well, so f#ck off again.

Watching Mercedes getting fat and BMW getting ugly is like watching two Darwin Award contenders having a go at each other's jugular.

Just saw the Throttle House review.

WHAT! A! PATHETIC! CAR!

It can’t do anything really good, it weighs as much as my S class, as an AMG it’s a travesty, it’s absurdly priced and, indeed, nobody asked for that E BS.

PS I reckon it’s party time at the Munich 4 cylinder building.
