Is this just journalists blabla or are there hard facts?
I'm not an EU emission insider, but what I heard is that EU7 is more a homogenisation effort for emissions of various vehicle classes and ICE fuel types, where gasoline engines in passenger cars won't get drastically more restrictive thresholds than before?
I mean: BMW introduced the S68 seemingly being confident to serve all EU7 needs for the upcoming years!?
So - "how bad" is EU7 really?

The thing is, as usual depends who is relaying the information. If it's engineering or research and development you've got to listen, perhaps more intently than say sales and marketing.

It's one of the reasons I joined here to get different angles from you guys.

This saga is one I feel we'll be talking about for an age more.

Uh they’re not gonna confirm this now and destroy/tank the 4-cylinder C63 even further before it even goes on sale. I would believe that they’re going to switch back but they will deny it for as long as possible to protect whatever sales they can get with Mighty Mouse. Who would buy this now if they said “yeah the V8 is coming back” in 3 years”?

This is it, guys. It could come, it could not come. We don't know.

If AMG can fit a 5.5 V8 under the bonnet of the much smaller W203 C55 model, then I am sure they can install a smaller 4.0ltr ;;V8 under this much larger W206 body.

That, lack of quality, is not only a problem of the C63, but of the whole range of W206 models.

It's a brilliantly rounded car in terms of tech, drivetrain, NVH and ride. However the interior finish is far below acceptable IMO. They definitely lost my mum as a customer to Porsche after 3 generations of Mercedes due to the lack of premium feel.

I hope this is getting through to MB management. How can the brand that built indestructible cars a few generations ago think that this is acceptable today? If you don’t turn it around the brand position will be forever lost.

I voiced our dissatisfaction to every sales guy I knew lol. Doubt they or MB Australia care though, the c is selling strongly here.

It's doing decently here too. It's up over last year but overall though like most sedans it's way down from it's peak years ago.

I still don't buy it.. there definitely has to be talks going on of bringing the V8 back. I say let's wait and see...

I reckon they would sell more E63 with a V8 than SL63.
To me the current moves seem like "produce less, sell for more" so possibly they don't care about moving volume with the V8, and care more for reducing the supply/work. But they definitely would sell more E63s yeah.

Well that's that then. The AMG "insider" a week ago was right on the money. So it'll either sell and be a success or won't.

I did see a Mercedes Benz represent from a dealership awhile ago and he knew nothing about any V8 comeback and said he thought it was unlikely.

The throttle response on that 2ltr engine is phenomenal. It seems to have huge punch from low down. the acceleration from 120km/h to 180km/h within a few seconds is certainly a big punch in the seat.
