F1 F1 2008-2009 Winter Testing

The cars look like crap.
The beauty of the old cars where those ridiculous fat slicks and wide-track.

Perhaps the testing cars used today are just prototypes while the real cars will come in a sexier form. At least I hope so because so far they look as hot as a kit car made in someone's garage.

They won't change too much, if at all, as there are a lot lot more restrictions to the bodywork then before, and even more will come in 2010.

Without really fat rear slicks and a wide track they'll just look like crap.

True. The framework of regulation isn't large enough for the teams to develop something that remotely resembles the beauty you posted.

while i have to say it maybe looks dumb and ugly, this is no beauty contest. i'm just sick and tired of every lap being a parade. the fun is just the 1st corner, then it's done.

remember Valencia? or Spain? Malaysia? SIngapore? Australia? the only fun GP was Canada, year in year out, and now thats gone too.

so, i'm willing to take the risk, no matter how the car looks like.

Well, I thought Singapore was fun. Ferrari put on a good show :D

Who ever said winglets where making the cars ugly was a moron.
I know I'm one of these morons, any others around ?!

Well I thought the BMW was the worst looking car because of all it's winglets, maybe BMW is just trying for the ugly car again next year. If they can't win, at least they can be ugly:t-hands:

Usually I don't care if the cars look butt ugly as long as they look well developed and convey the high tech image of F1 racing. However these latest test cars with 09 spec aero looks like an absolute joke. I hope the real 09 cars look more sophisticated than this because at this stage, they don't look like they represent the pinnacle of automotive sport.

I think teams just don't have the resource to redesign the suspension system to accomonidate these wide rears, as well as adapting to the new aero reg and KERS, plus I don't think Bridgestone will want to invest in new machines to manufacture tyres which has a different width. There will also be packaging issues when transporting these new fat tyres.

Actually the initial plans included the return to a wide track and big slicks.
Why they've gone back on this I don't know.

Make no mistake about it, the change from groves to slicks and the ban on the winglets will imply a complete redesign of the suspensions regardless of the track.

Packaging issues ?!
How did F1 ever managed till 93 or till 98 then.
They could save a lot in therms of packaging just by using eCVT transmissions, add active suspensions a lot of the aero nonsense/upgrades wold be gone too.

Cant' believe guys like the nephew or the swiss are getting to F1 without having shown anything that justify it or some others has been like the jap and the spanish ready to make comebacks while gems like di resta are wasting their talent in DTM, Haug must seriously do something about him.
