F1 2008 Japanese Grand Prix

congrats to Alonso. i've said it many times...he's still the best out there since MS retired.

i'm really glad Massa knocked some sense into Hamilton.

^ I personally cheered too. I want it to go down the last race again, that was good fun.

Incident 1, first corner: That was Lewis' fault though. He completely pushed out Kimi and a few other people. Not to mention he almost took his own teamate out. Like I said, he could have just accepted it, probably have done enough to wrap up the championship there.

Incident 2, Mas vs Ham: Suspect by Massa as soon as I saw it. Figured there would be a penalty. However, I wouldn't have been surprised if Hamilton pulled the same thing though:t-hands:

While I agree that Hamilton drove like a pissed off teenager today we have seen plenty of starts where other cars have pushed people wide and recieve no penalty. IMO the severety of of both Massas action and Hamiltons are not equal, Massa should have recieved a stop and go.

That's understandable, for sure. But I think the penalties are somewhat equal because while Massa ruined Hamilton's race... Hamilton's incident did affect a few more people so. It's up in the air this one

Im certainly not knocking Alonso's merits but on both wins he inherited the lead after 'incidents' and kept it till the end. Something Kova, Vettel and a few others have all done this season. YES he's class but the past two wins have done nothing for his rep AFAIC for better or worse.

Great driver tho..

1. Hamilton never made contact with anybody, while Massa shunted him.
2. No one else (that Hamilton managed to affect) had the entire field pass them by.

I think you could almost develop a strategy off this.

I'm sorry to say but the FIA is just going penalty crazy this season.
How often do we see midfielders do this at starts with almost always no penalties? Quite a lot I think.

I keep watching clips of the Massa Bourdais incident, and I can't seem to figure out what Bourdais did wrong...

Yes it was Hamiltons fault off the line but we've seem many similar incidents before, those happen during every race. I mean why wasn't Alonso penalized in Singapore for cutting the chicane in corner 1 gaining two positions???

Hamilton didn't pull nothing wrong. He took the same racing line as everyone else. As always midget Massa went cocky in the post race interviews by arrogantly blaming everything on Hamilton ans Sebass just like in Valencia accusing Sutil of trying to challenge him in the pit. :t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea

A driver can squeeze another car off the line, but not off the track, and squeezing is different to a full on brake lockup. Hamilton was too aggressive at the 1st braking point, locked up and pushed Kimi off the track. The thing is, Hamilton's car wasn't even turning, it just went straight and blocked off Kimi's road. Kimi didn't have the option of braking behind Hamilton and get back on track because Kovalainen was there as well.

As for Lewis's incident with Massa, they both knew there were only so much space available on the track, Massa should have slowed a bit more and let Lewis through and Lewis should have known Massa might cut across the corner and leave it a bit more space on the track. Massa's drive through penalty is fair.

Can't really comment on the Massa and Bourdais incident. Need more camera angle to decide if the penalty is right or not. I think it is a bit harsh right now.

Not to squeeze off track? Have a search in youtube search for San Marino 2004, Michael Schumacher just pushed Montoya out of the track. And talking about "not even turning", that was the same as A1 ring 2002. It's pretty weird, one incident was a driver making a driver mistake, which unintentioanlly affected both himself and some others, while the other one was very much avoidable, like you see soemone and decide to hit and run, and there is the same penalty.

Mclaren have hands down been the better team this year and have been so even though they've faced severe unfairness. If Massa and Ferrari win I will stop watching F1, cause I see no point in watching a rigged competition where all drivers don't have an equal chance of winning. I would even advise Hamilton to boycott all press conferences and even the FIA gala taking place later this year.

Brian i hate u:D

LoL :D well, i can't stand Hamilton. so we're even :D

anyways :

Back to back Grand Prix winner Fernando Alonso has admitted he would assist the title challenge of Ferrari's Felipe Massa in the last two races of 2008.

After his disastrous tenure at McLaren last year, the Spaniard makes clear he is not barracking for the British team's Lewis Hamilton, who leads the points standings against Massa by five points.

In the official post-race press conference at Fuji Speedway, Alonso admitted he agreed with the stewards' decision to penalise Hamilton for his first corner incident.

The 27-year-old later told Italy's Sky: "I didn't know why he (Hamilton) had been penalised. After last year, I want Ferrari to win. I will help Massa if I can."

Despite backing Massa over Hamilton, however, Alonso admits he has not been overly impressed with either driver's championship campaign.

"They have thrown away many points," Spain's Diario AS newspaper quotes him as saying.

"After 16 races the leader has 84 points, but I had that many after nine races in 2006," Alonso recalls.

Also unimpressed is the winner of multiple Champ Car titles Sebastien Bourdais, who lost his championship points at Fuji after stewards investigated his collision with Massa.

"He's fighting for the title and taking unnecessary risks like that, as he did with (overtaking) Webber as well.

"You've got everything to lose and nothing to gain. It is a sign of arrogance,"
the Frenchman charged.

And people have the nerve to give Hamilton crap for saying shit...Didn't this guy say he respected Hamilton a few weeks ago? Now if he supposedly does why would he try and affect a race biasedly to one driver? Is Ferrari paying him under the rug? F1 is just getting ridiculous, suddenly drivers are no longer incontrol of their own race they have to worry about stupid f*cks like Alonso.

Well then looks like Alonso is already preparing his move to Ferrari.

I think most drivers in the paddock don't respect Hamilton anyway, might as well go public :D

Besides, it's not like this is anything new. You can't possibly expect Alonso to play nice with Lewis. He didn't say he's going to torpedoe Hamilton's car (ala Nakajima), he will drive aggressive (i.e not let him pass) which has been happening all season anyway. What's the big deal?

Even Heidfeld is saying that Lewis didn't learn from his mistakes from last year and drove way too aggressively in the first corner.

:bowdown::bowdown::usa7uh:

Bravo for Kubica and i hope Lewis wins this title. For the rest - i don't give a rat's @$$.

Oh wait, i want Kubica to be smart and to take #2 from Massa and f'd up Ferrari... Oh, and i hope somehow BMW manages to take 2nd place in CC, that's not a Mission Impossible....;) Maybe it was at the beginning, but now:

It doesn't seem so...:eusa_pray;)

^So I guess you condone this sort of action? Would you be saying the same if it were Kubica/BMW?

No one said they were going to affect either of Alonsos WDC I wish someone did now. I don't think he deserves those now he's just so two faced and unsporting.

No, of course I don't agree with it from a sportsmanship perspective. But it's not like this is a new rivalry. And it's definitely not the first rivalry in the sports history either. If he didn't mention it publicly, it's not like this would be a surprise to anyone right? :t-hands:
Some would argue that Hamilton is not a saint either. Personally, I just want to see good races in the next coming weeks.

P.S: Kinda ridiculous to see BMW so high up, almost at McLaren levels in terms of points. That would be a hell of an achievement for them to go over them. Nick, time to do work son.
