7 Series (F01) F01/F02 BMW 7er - Spy Pics & Info -- PART II

The BMW F01 is the fifth-generation 7 Series, produced from 2008 to 2015. The model range consisted of standard length and long wheelbase ("Li" models) sedans. Model codes: F01 (short-wheelbase), F02 (long-wheelbase), F03 (high-security), and F04 (ActiveHybrid). Production: 2008–2015.
and yes the color that featured exclusively on the X6 Concept Car is exclusive to the 7er aswell.

SCOTT, :eusa_naug, no, we need to talk. That is not fair. You must alert your fellow marketing colleagues that this color must be addressed and made available as an exclusive offer. You must tell them that there is a woman that you "know" of that is dying for that color as some type of exclusive option on the X6.

Yes, I'm almost begging (gasp!). No, I am not pathetic, just in whine mode today. ;)

I am with you Jade. The marketing guys need to do something or I am not buying X6.

Today we had our first introductory meeting with the film crew we have hired to discuss our approach taken with the upcoming 7er , As we usually normally stay at the FIZ for these introductory meetings we have now moved over to the WELT. Where we can hold these gatherings and dealer and industry previews in the surrounding wonderful architecture of the BMW Welt. Whilst everyone darts around the floor we are hidden in many secret viewing rooms around the Welt.

As Filming starts in early March the meeting was to discuss my ideas and the concept for the cars marketing with the director and the crew - map out storyboards and show off the location videos (Hong Kong and Dubai feature) featuring the architecture and many city surroundings and ideal driving roads we want the car to be associated with. Both models are there because it will be a double launch so the F01 and F02 debut initially . The Longwheelbase car is ideally finished in Cashmere Silver whereas the F01 is showcased in an exclusive color for the F01 : Imperial Blue and yes the color that featured exclusively on the X6 Concept Car is exclusive to the 7er aswell. Without giving the name away yet it is ......Something..... Granite. Oh yes it is the 750Li model but also the next big engine from BMW a new premium diesel And a new V12 comes in Spring 2009.
Then after the 7er in the summer I get the Z4. And I want that to be the most visual creative concept ever...

Exciting year yet again for BMW. This might actually top last year as the 7er is usually a huge deal. Glad to have Scott on board to give us these scoops

We have a movement here, "We Want the Sparkling Granite!" We will sign a petition, all those in favor.

This is a color that we supposedly can't have, but it is not impossible! ...(don't make me break into song....)

You can get your car custom painted any color you want....BMW doesn't have to do it for you.

Does it mean if filming starts in March, there is a possibility of spy shooting and catching the 7er on stage, and sharing the photos over the net, so we can see 7er much earlier before summer !?

Expect some LA, NY & Shanghai shootings. In the early spring.

Btw, the FEP prototype test drivers haven't reported yet on being caught by a spy photographer. Because they still haven't been. Weird.
Lehmann, where are you??? In Sweden? Come back to Munich ASAP. :D

Arghh, why is it still so heavily hided, on all photos it looks like lm looking at my E65 whit added plastic panels on rear lights and bumber, like it`s nothing changed from day 1.

It's looking more likely that the next generation 7er media presentation will offer a bit of nostalgia particularly with all previous generations featuring from the E23 to the E65 in a parking structure. after a viewing with all generations at BMW Mobile Tradition. The agenda is to consider tradition against the introduction of new media and visual imagery showcased with the latest X6 Campaign.

But I am adament you will only see fleeting glimpses of the F01/F02. And that will be the Cues - The twin angel eye headlights , the outline of the twin kidney grille , the wing mirrors , the flanks , The BMW door kink. The "7" interplay with dimmed light and shadow. With the full outline only becoming apparent when the car exits into daylight.

As for what parking structure? I have many on file from around the world.
Shooting kicks off in Sydney in early March. Before moving to Adelaide and across the world ....

And the special grey color is .....
Drummroll.... Sophisto Granite metallic.

Hey, Scott, can you give us some hint on a black paint, is it going to have some cool name, like Audi's (Phantom schwarz metallic), or Mercedes (Obsidian scwharz), and will it be heavy black, like Obsidian :P, or perhaps like smaragd ... Will we have a double choice of one paint, like mercedes has? (Iridium silber, Briliant silber...)

Uni-Black (Non-metallic) and Black Sapphire (Metallic).

:t-hands:

SCOTT answers the question on what the grey color will be, he even goes as far as to say what the black colors will be on the new 7 series.

BUT, no words for EmPower and me who are humbly awaiting any response from the marketing team, we would like to know if Sophisto Granite will be an exclusive option for the X6...

I am this close away from pm'ing you, Mr. 27......

:t-cheers:

W H A T

l don't believe this. Seven years later and we still have the same name and color. How dull. l can't forget the Cosmo-Schwarz metallic paint on E38. That was the color.

It might be disguised from nose to tail but our exclusive spy photos give a peek of what the next BMW 7 Series will look like. It was caught by a Wheels24 reader near the Wilderness in the Southern Cape.
The all-new 7 Series will be unveiled towards the end of 2008 with sales kicking of in 2009. We expect that it will be a similar size to the current model while BMW will clean up some of its controversial styling.
The 2009 7 Series gets a new platform too with an internal designation of F01.
BMW will increase interior space as the car will have a longer wheelbase, however, without gaining much length.
Anyone hoping for a complete redesign will be disappointed. The prototype caught in the Wilderness reveals that the overall shape is similar to the existing model, which means that the design will be evolutionary.
But the body will look sleeker and the 7 will boast a more elegant overall appearance.
At the front one can expect a more prominent kidney grille, while the position of the headlights and turn signals show that the next 7 series will have low mounted wrap-around headlights.
The distinctive boot design of the current 7 Series appears unchanged. Though there will definitely be a fresh taillight design to play down the car's bulky rear end, Like the current 7 Series, there will be the usual range of V8 and V12 engines. BMW will probably also launch the next 7 Series with alternative-fuel options or hybrid technology.
