^for sure.. no doubt..
for now BMW is the king of german brands..
doesent mean i like them the most..
but thats hard facts..

on the other hand..something that really interests me when it comes to brands is profit..
i think it might be a better way to meassure..

Yes, but Daimler probably is a much bigger company than BMW...with trucks, busses, everything with an engine and wheels they make.

2007 data in millions (euros):
BMW MB
Revenues 56018 52430
EBIT 3873 4753 (Profit before tax & interest)

MB achieved higher profits. However there are huge differences in capital expenditure. Also depreciation/appreciation/amortisation is treated very differentlly. However bmw's profits have decreased quite substantially from 2006. from investor's point of view, bmw also has higher return on capital employed.

Do you imagine an A8 having the overall appearence of an A5?. That will be stunning, and people will fall in love with LEDs lights, agresive look, and the refinement and the luxury of such a car.

That might be so, but look at the new A4. It has the overall appearance of the A5 but non of its refinement and presence. It looks plain.

This type of vehicle is typically not bought by the young and sporty but by a little older people and hence the styling needs to be a bit conservative. Just look at the S-class. The car screams of conservativeness...

What da hell is this,Kashif?:D

IMO that is just utterly crap,i'm not talking out of fanboy mode but from prestigious point of view regarding the german cars in the high end segment which only MB badge standing there.

^ofcourse you can twist and turn..
but at the end of the day.. profit and sales is what makes the car wold go around..
prestige is just something that aids to reach those 2 other more important goals

PS
But yeah..imo and my mind MB is still the king not only of german brands..but in the world:D

Again , this isnt a debate about S-class, its about next generation 7-series. Stop right now fellow citizens.

I get ur point, but IMO BMW sells more coz to a large extent it offers more cheaper cars than MB,here where i live BMW's are cheaper than all equivalent MB cars seriously,so that helps move their cars faster, plus MB offers cars with a price tags of Italian exotics which aren't exactly hot cakes type of cars in terms of sales, prestigious wise MB is by far the undisputed german brand.

^a bmw fan would say that MB has more modells and still doesent sell more..
you see the discussion is never ending..:D

on the other hand.. i must say that BMW´s bread and butter the 3er ..
is a cheaper car than MB´s top sellers:D

In the last days i´ve been reading rumors about an M7 being under delopment, Could it be?.
