7 Series (F01) BMW 7er F01/F02 Picture Thread

The BMW F01 is the fifth-generation 7 Series, produced from 2008 to 2015. The model range consisted of standard length and long wheelbase ("Li" models) sedans. Model codes: F01 (short-wheelbase), F02 (long-wheelbase), F03 (high-security), and F04 (ActiveHybrid). Production: 2008–2015.

Stunning photoshoot - and absolutely love these 19' rims!

I remain unmoved by the M Sports Package for the 7er. It actually works against the fantastic looks of the standard 7er. They had so much potential to work with regarding this M Package, and they completely blew it with this overdone, after-market ugly duckling design. :(

Yes I agree btu the sad thing is they have done it with the 5 sieres, too. I´m scared that they will **** up the M5´s design. :t-banghea

Some nice F02 shots again:

7-Series needs the m-pack and wheels otherwise its very bland, almost Lexus bland especially in that color. That front bumper is lifeless. M-pack and wheels bring it up to being a favorite of mine in SWB form.

BMW is really nailing the proportions on their new offerings (apart from that absurd looking grill on the 7), but when I look at them on the road I feel nothing. They're nice cars no doubt. Desinged to the point of perfection almost, but they don't evoke any emotion.

And what on earth is going on with the M packs? These were droolworthy additions before and now they just look stupid.

I completly agree with you. I just loved the 7er when we saw the first official pics of it. But when you see one on the streets, it´s just so normal, so standard that I don´t know how to feel about it. I wrote it on the official thread of the F01, I saw a 740i a few weeks ago, with standard rims, in black and beige interior and somehow I thought "Damm, I just would´t spend my money on one of this", without comparing it with the rivals, I just wouldn´t.

I dunno, I think the F01 is close to perfect. Beauty in simplicity. When I see them on the road, I just really feel it evokes emotion. Perhaps due to it not being so extraverted, one might not grab that, or assume that from it (if they need a design that says "HEY LOOK AT ME, I'M EMOTIONAL!! :D), but I feel it. The emotion lies in the crisp lines, the glowing nature of the car, and the flawlessly un-busy design and proportions.

Do I like it more than an S-Class or E-Class design for me to personally see in my garage every day? I dunno, but I do love and respect its approach.

I think its looks combine business/seriousness/luxury/sport/very slight glamorousness/understatedness/and sexiness altogether pretty well.

You writting is pure american K-A. :D:D

LOL. I am an American boy, who likes/drives European cars. :D

Or like the over-aggressive Salesman who was trying to sell me his "fine Italian Leather" shoes, when I was looking for something simply durable and comfortable (went to another store to buy a more fitting pair) said, after seeing me pull up in my E: "You drive a hot German car but buy Chinese shoes". :t-hands:

Well, you're not a die hard BMW fan, and because I am and feel the same though far less strong, I think you're right.
The 7er and 5er are some of the best designs for a sedan I've ever seen (including everything like the big grille and stuff).......but my God, it's boring. The previous gen Bimmers made me stare, admire, think and a whole bunch of other emotions came to play ("do I really like this???"), but when I see a new 5er, all I can think of is that it looks beautiful, but you see that in 1.5 seconds, and after that it becomes boring :/

Interesting, coming from someone with your point of view.

That does make sense. Last night, I saw my first F10 on the road (well, in a Parking Lot), I showed my friend, and he seemed unimpressed first, like "is this it?", then when we got to the front 1/4 view, the excellent proportions and designing came into play, and he then spoke more positively about it. All in all, I think for someone like him, who might just glance and leave, it might not leave the biggest impression.

I think that is part of the reason why I chose the E-Class, it drew major emotion from me, I hated everything about it, but I couldn't stop looking at it, to practically "debate" whether it is a good or bad design, until it just won me over. I feel like I know the car so well from different emotional and perceiving angles, and it makes it a more personal ownership experience. As well, it'll always be a historic "car relationship" for me.

I don't always fall for that approach, I usually just like what I like off the bat, but I guess there are always exceptions.

I feel like I will speak very highly of the F01/F10 as the designs are in essence, what I support, but I feel when it comes time for me to sign the paperwork with my own money into play, the M-B designs right now are what lure me in. I don't know what significance that has to the designs, as in the last gen, when the roles were reversed, I still went the M-B way, so :t-hands:.

I will say, if I was in the market for an S-Class or 7-Series, it would be a CLOSE CALL, much more-so than the F10 and W212 turned out to be, which was, and still is, very close.

I´ve seen like four 5ers in the streets, and in my neighbour there is a grey 550i wich I´ve seen today when I was going to have a haircut (I´ve taken a few pics). It looks surprising from the rear end, the lights are so wide that makes you think "What car is that?" Then you come close and you see it´s clearly the new 5 Series from BMW. I´ve noticied that there are only two nice rims of the optional ones that I like, the press pic ones.

Definetly, the rear looks fantastic, much better than the E-Class rear part. The side profile is elegant and soft, far from the radical E60. The interior looks really cool too, and then you go to the fornt and you say "ooops". It´s too bland for the rest of the car. And I can´t identify what makes me think this.

So, overall, the car is a very good design, much better than with the M Pack, that´s for sure, this is a too elegant design to equiped with the angular M Pack, just makes no sense.

But I have doubts about the car. The 7er shocked me when it was presented, I think it was far better than anything else, and now I wouldn´t buy it and will go for and S-Class with the AMG kit without any doubts. The 7er has aged to my eyes so rapidly, in fact, much faster than the E65 did, letñs see how the F10 does.

Opposite for me really. The back is bland, and the front is the strong part.
Also, I think the M pack is a must have :D So cool.

And the S over the F01. No way in hell. The FL S looks like a Christmas tree. The LEDs are quite horrible, and of course the fat bloated design and those wheelarches.
