Hey All,

Well the first thread was at just about 50 pages, so I thought a new thread should be created since things are only gonna get more interesting with the new 7er.

Here's a link to the initial F01 7er thread: https://germancarforum.com/threads/f01-f02-bmw-7er-spy-pics-info.6232/

Oks, well I thought I'd kick-off this new thread with a little something.. :)

On the last page of Thread 1 I posted a picture with quickly done outlines to try and get insight into what the rear-end of the new 7er will look like. THis time though I put in a lot more effort and focus to try and get a more accurate representation. I've used the BMW CS Concept as a guide in terms of how lines flow and integrate.

So guys, what do you think of it... and how close do you all think it is? :)

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

Mike Miller says they only test these things to make sure they don't break down in the first 100k mls. Looks like they're doing a whole lot more than that w/ the testing pics we've seen.

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

LOL Artist.

The thing that I can't help noticing is how old the current 7er looks now .....especially after the CS was unveiled.

Is this really Merc's future?

I think it's quite easy to see which one will be well thought of and looked back upon as a masterpiece in 20 yrs time.

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

I don't know if you're joking with that smiley face at the end of your sentence but MB's F series concepts have been design studies in some cases. Have a look at the F200.

F200

W220 S class

yep thats the only one..
i guess it remains to be seen if the F700 is tech or design
personally i wouldnt say that just beacuse of one F car (F200) the F700 will be MB´s future..
but who knows :t-hands:

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

^^^^ Hahaha!
Nice one Porsche Guy. I completely forgot that the W220 is like a carbon copy of the F200 (the front at least)

Now Artist cannot say the F-series cars are only design concepts. They CLEARLY are not.

All the best with the new S class, MB guys :D So far, signs point to a horrible looking car!

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

^i think you got to excited there.. i never said that F cars where only DESIGN concepts..
i said that they where only TECHNOLOGY concepts:D

damn man.. get a grip:D

The next E-Class will have the big grille and headlight design of the F700.

V8 with 490hp, thats more than 760Li. So can we expect 530hp for the V12?

Wow! 490 hp? Great if true and definitely no need for X5 M if that's the case. Those 490 ponies and 2 turbos will do the job against Cayenne Turbo and ML63.

Oh and V12 must get some serious update/power boost. By the time next 7er arrives, current 445 hp will seem weak.

The article also says the new V8 diesel will push about 350hp.

:t-cheers:

490 hp sounds pretty great for the V8 TT! Perfect, in fact.

As for the current V12...Tycoon, I've always thought it was severely underpowered. Right from the start. And it's a damn shame, because it probably is the best V12 in production, and is capable of so much more.
For the next V12, I think 550 hp is the minimum.

So 350 hp for the V8 TT diesel, and 490 hp for the V8 TT gasoline...The Diesel looks a bit underpowered actually. The difference has always been much less (286 hp vs 306 hp and 330 hp vs 367 hp) But then again, the current V8 4.8 is an old, NA engine, so.....

Edit;

From Autozeitung:

BMW Siebener

Short in English:

April 2008, more dynamic, the chances for an M version of the 7er are 'not bad'. 6-and 8 cylinder direct injection.

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

klier, 350hp diesel is one stage turbo, not 2. Only an update of current engine in 745d.

And yes, i agree that V12 is underpowered compared to the one in S600 for example, but 550 seems too optimistic to me... 510 or so would do the job.

:t-cheers:

Re: F01 BMW 7er - spy pics -- PART II

Ahhh, that explains it perfectly well. Never thought of that, lol :D
I guess they think 350 hp is enough for a diesel, no need to twin turbocharge it.
However, with a power upgrade to the current 3.0 TT diesel, which is bound to happen, it'll be awefully close to the new V8 diesel.
