Vs Design battle: Mercedes CL VS 6-Series Coupe. Which reigns supreme?

bad comparison imo, cl looks dull compared to 6er in these pics and that color, and you can only see the front of 6er

What photo are you looking at? The first thing you notice is the sharpness of the CL. It's completely "In Your Face". If anything the 6 series suffers because it's further back and less noticeable.

The CL without even thinking, I don't find the 6er praticulary that good looking. I mean, is very nice, but in my book far from being one of BMW finest ever.

No contest. CL must be one of the worst MB designs in a long time. In basic trim its pretty much an ugly and dull car. However in black color and AMG trim it transforms the car to something wonderful. But overall, the new 6-series is much nicer looking car and it doesn't even need an optional package to look good, that tells you a lot about a cardesign.

You have got to be kidding me. Worst designs in a long time? Even if the car doesn't pop without AMG sportswear, it isn't one of their worst desgins. A car that looks so much better with some side skirts and different wheels/bumpers can't be a terrible design to start with. Utter nonsense.

What photo are you looking at? The first thing you notice is the sharpness of the CL. It's completely "In Your Face". If anything the 6 series suffers because it's further back and less noticeable.

The 6 Series looks broad, and smooth and elegant. The CL IMO looks far to like a coupe S, whereas the 6er looks completely different, and far more stylish than the 5er upon which its based. And that comment about the 1 Series is very funny cos Mercedes are masters of beautiful designs

And there cant really be a winner, as the results are invariably decided by which marque has more fanboys

I would describe CL as smooth and 6er as sharp. I dont see nothing sharp on CL's design

and 1er should not be allowed to be mentioned next to these 2

The 6 Series Coupe is nothing more than an overpriced 5 Series. Not to be compared to CL-Klasse. As a matter of factor BMW doesn't has a car to rival the CL. Nor does Audi.

IMO they're both masterpieces from their respective brands. The 6er for me is the best looking BMW inside and out at the moment. I also looked deeply at the CL, other than its age and the fact it will be replaced next year, it was the Mercedes for me in a lot of ways. I like the SL more now, simply due to it being newer, not more beautiful.

These 2 cars are part of the reason Mercedes and BMW stand alone from the rest of the luxury car pack, including Audi. You have to shop in the top rung, Aston, Maser, Porsche to find more beautiful 2-door cars.

The 6er is not overpriced? As I said to K-A a few days ago "Sorry K-A, just wondering why you think the 6er is overpriced, because in the UK, a 650i is 67K and a Jaguar XK V8 is 65K. Now for that (small) premium you get a a vastly superior interior, drivetrain, arguably looks, and a safer younger more efficient car? So whats your problem with its pricing??"

I respect your feelings about mercedes, but i feel that you are stuck a bit in a last century, no disrespect, but mercedes is not on the higher level than bmw

I am so sick and tired of people who have to go to the utmost extreme just to prove a point. Obviously, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I am in NO way trying to suggest that I have to right to ultimately judge what is or is not ugly, but I honestly don't get all the hate the CL is getting. I'd probably understand if you called it lifeless, bland, boring, feminine.... but I have no idea how anyone would call it ugly. It's the greatest hyperbole I've heard on GCF.

The old A class is very unattractive. The Aztek is the king of being offensive. If you honestly find the CL so offensive that is unpleasant to look at...and yet be so smitten by the 1-series, then I really have nothing to say.

Briesgau here wasn't trying to say Mercedes was on a higher level. If there was any mention made it was to the price of the 5er. He/she also went to say that the 6er does not compete with the CL, which is true.
