Apparently there's one somewhere in Pebble Beach for a private reveal... Went to a BMW event yesterday and didn't see one or the 8er Cabrio. Keeping an eye out. Maybe @bmwblog can confirm it's really around.

BMW should tone it down with the private showing nonsense and the dragged out slow reveals. It takes away from the inital impact of their newest models, imo.

More or less figures. October after the Mondial l'auto in time for the already pencilled in LAIAS where it will join the M850i Cabrio as the World Premiere. BMW are doubling as they will not attend the January NAIAS.

what am i missing that's click bait? bmw confirms is the title and in the body they say "A company spokesperson confirmed the release window via email"

They say it will be launched in October(true) but in time for LAIAS which has always been confirmed, however he dismisses the debut at LAIAS when we know that it will launch in time exactly for the LAIAS.
And the only X7M testing at the ring is the M50i or M50d.

Looks luxurious and typical BMW with the added practicality and versatility. Nice seats and a great seating configuration.
Will certainly give the GLS a run for its money in the States.

Have to be honest if I had the opportunity to live in the US I'd rather opt for the Navigator in this class.
The value proposition, space and towing capacity with as much if not more luxury from the Navigator just makes more sense in the US.

If I were to live any were in the EU and had four children + the wife to transport over long distances the X7 will be the most perfect vehicle for the job.

IMPORTANT WARNING!

Before some of you go "cheap shiny plastic parts" crazy: it's a pre-production prototype with unfinished interior!

Even X5 G05 demo (pre-production) prototypes came with ugly plastic parts in the cabin (eg. bottle holders in the doors, rear cup holders etc). It's the same with X7!


P.S.: the spy pics are obviously of a X7 with 2+2+2 seat configuration.

Differences I can see thus far is that the X7 seems to have what appears to be two ignition buttons and the under the dash around the radio controls the X7 seems to have leather and not soft plastics. Seems like the focus will be quality over the X5’s interior.

Looks great to me. Other than the rear floor mounted cup holder I don’t see any cheap bits personally but I don’t have the eye you guys do.

Wonder how they will resolve the cup holder in production trim. Needs to be easy to clean and needs to be able to withstand people stepping on it

Well the lower parts of the seats seem to be cheap pre-production versions too, because I see a lot of hard shiny plastic.

It's a shame that the interior of X5 and X7 are identical, apart from a slab of extra leather here and there. A little effort to separate the interiors would have gone a long way. It's a bit too obvious that the X7 is just an LWB X5 wouldn't you say?

(And, yes, 5er/6er cockpit will also be updated. While 7er is already scheduled for LCI in 2019, so ...). The whole CLAR-based vehicles will feature new cockpit based on iDrive 7.x from 2019 on.)
