Have you seen any mules?

Don't need to see any mules, this render clearly is a very poor job.

- 5,25m length

Interesting if true.

The current X5 is 4.80m long
The current 7er is also 5.20m long

So the X7 is really going to be a 7er SUV in size.

Oh, and the GLS is 5.10m long
And the Range Rover (SWB) is 4.99m long

It's going to be a big ass car!

What It Is:
A big, family-hauling SUV with three rows of seating and room for seven. Basically, a Bavarian school bus.

Why It Matters: BMW is late to the large-SUV game. Former CEO Norbert Reithofer spent huge sums developing the “i” subbrand. Now that he’s out, the company has decided that instead of changing the world, it just wants to haul its well-heeled kids to prep school, so the potentially very profitable X7 enjoys top priority within the company. Like the X5, the X7 will be assembled in South Carolina.

Platform: Built on BMW’s largest rear-wheel-drive platform but with available four-wheel drive, the X7 will have cutting-edge connectivity, driver-assistance, and infotainment systems. As to its off-road capabilities, this BMW is no Jeep, but that’s okay since its customers probably think of parking lots when they hear “off-road.”

Powertrain: BMW’s proven lineup of inline-six and V-8 gasoline and diesel engines will channel their torque to the drive wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic.

Competition: Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Infiniti QX80, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, Lincoln Navigator,Mercedes-Benz GLS-class, Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2.

What Might Go Wrong: The Ultimate Kinder-Carrying Machine just doesn’t work as a tagline.

Estimated Arrival and Price: Early 2018, at a considerable premium over the X5, so expect a starting price north of $75,000.

A new report indicates BMW is analyzing the prospects of giving the large X7 SUV the full-on M treatment
Some of us are still getting used to the idea of having M versions of the X5 and X6, but it seems the two high-performance SUVs might be joined by a third model some years from now. Set to be manufactured in Spartanburg, the first-ever X7 is going to be launched in 2019, which means an M-flavored version won’t come out before the end of the decade, that is if will get the stamp of approval from BMW’s execs.

A final decision regarding whether there will be an X7 M is expected to come around 2018, following a period of analysis to figure out if a powered-up version of the big SUV is really necessary in BMW’s continuously growing lineup.

If it will receive the green light, the X7 M will likely use the same engine set to power the forthcoming 2018 M5 (F90). We are talking about an evolution of the familiar biturbo 4.4-liter V8 said to deliver as much as 620 horsepower in the new application. While in the new M5 the engine will be linked to a standard RWD layout and an optional xDrive setup, the X7 M will probably be AWD-only as it’s the case with its smaller X5 M and X6 M brothers.

Even if there won’t be an X7 M, chances are Alpina will have something very similar taking into account we have discovered the company has trademarked the “XB7” moniker. In addition, we’ve known for quite some time the “XD7” nameplate already belongs to Alpina, thus indicating a hot diesel version is in the works.

Codenamed G07, the new flagship SUV from BMW will be offered as standard with a seven-seat arrangement, but word on the street suggests an ultra-luxurious four-seater model is also on the agenda. To further set it apart, BMW has plans to give the plushier model “noticeably different” exterior styling, according to undisclosed sources close to the company.

The standard model is said to carry a starting price of €130,000 (about $143,000) in Europe, with the possible four-seater and the X7 M to command a significant premium.

I would find it especially annoying if they give an X7 the full M before a 7er. (Yes, yes, the Alpina B7 fills the niche)

Since X7 is to be the 7er of luxury SAVs I would agree MX760Li V12 xDrive is more likely.

Yeesh, that'd be mouthful. Sounds like a model name for a laptop.

Not a chance whatsoever.

The X5 M and X6 M will get a baby M brother in the form of X3 M, and likely X4 M.
That's it.

Why not?
You have the GLS 63AMG and nobody is dead yet.
M7 is long over due, and BMW should pull their heads out of their arse and build the damn thing.

They won't make an M3 or M5 touring , so until then any other M niche is a no in my books.

Yes they did... but I think it deserves a rebirth more than a M mammoth SUV

SUVs have replaced "wagons". BMW don't even sell the standard 5 Series Touring in the U.S. anymore, so there is virtually no market for an M version. If an M5 Touring can't be sold in the U.S. then there is zero business case for it.

If they do an X7M, I wonder how they would publicly justify the lack of M7.

Any idea on the weight penalty between the V8 and V12, and the impact that weight penalty will have on the X7.
I assume the X7 will weigh more than the 7 series.

Like they justified building X5M and X6M without building an M7.
Like they justified cancelling the CS but built more SUVs.

Our information is very solid. Again, they are considering it, it has not been approved yet. Business case is being looked at. But 100% sure the X7 M is a topic at M.

We rarely speculate and we usually try to use two sources before publishing.

Of course it is. BMW will be considering lots of things all the time. I don't even know why this is news.
