X3/X4 BMW X3 (G01) - Spy Pics & Info

The BMW X3 is an SUV manufactured by BMW since 2003, based on the BMW 3 Series platform. Now in its fourth generation, BMW markets the car as a Sports Activity Vehicle, the company's proprietary descriptor for its X-line luxury vehicles. The BMW X4 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by BMW since 2014. The X4 is widely considered as a "coupé" version of the X3, trading its practicality with a sloping rear roof which offers a sportier styling. BMW has indicated 2025 will be the X4's final model year.

I hope the analogue speedometer and rpm meter over the digital one is just camouflage otherwise this would be a big blunder

No, that's how it will come as standard, just like it does on the G11 7 Series. The FULL digital cockpit is not standard on the 7 Series (except for certain markets where they choose to make it standard).

Neither fish nor fowl, symptomatic for how BMW has evolved over the last 10 to 15 years.

Still a lot of camo, but it looks a lot like the X1 from the outside, and a lot like the G11 7er from the inside.

The proportions look very promising. The interior looks a bit boring.

It's going to be interesting to see the Q5 launch within 6 months of this.

This is shaping up quite nicely. The X3 to me has always been the ugly duckling in the X family. This may change that.

Personally I like as much sidewall on my SUV/SAV tires as possible, I'm not even much of a fan of low profiles on sports cars, but alas, that is the industry trend.

Sometime in 2017, BMW will take the veils off an all-new X3. The second generation is a tough act to follow, but the upcoming model will do it effortlessly.

Internally known as the G01, the 2017 BMW X3 has been spied recently inside & out by our talented carparazzi team. The half analogue and half digital instrument cluster, free-floating touchscreen infotainment display, and latest iDrive are the name of the game as far as the interior is concerned.

On the outside, the compact crossover retains the shape we all know and love. Look closer and you’ll also see that the X3 will grow in size and will benefit from a dynamic stance. Minus the two exhaust tips, the spied mule appears to be a no-frills X3, barren of M Performance or other appearance-enhancing goodies.

It’s worth mentioning that the G01 X3 has longer rear doors and rear quarter windows. This detail suggests the CLAR platform upon which it rides prides itself on a longer wheelbase than the 2,810 mm (110.6 inches) of the current model. The less raked rear window, on the other hand, is a tell-tale sign that BMW is gunning for more luggage capacity over the current model.

The same platform will underpin the next-generation BMW X4, which is expected to debut sometime in the 2018 calendar year. On the mechanical front, four- and six-cylinder turbocharged engines will take care of propulsion. Cog swapping will be handled by a six-speed manual in less powerful models. BMW has expressed skepticism at the ZF 9-speed automatic transmission, so the 8-speed rower we’re familiar with will most likely soldier on in the G01 X3.

A go-faster turbo diesel X3 is in the cards, as is a plug-in hybrid (tentatively named X3 xDrive35e) and a full-blown X3 M. The latter is expected to churn out up to 500 horsepower from a water-injected and force-fed straight-six.

This is interesting, because I read this yesterday. Regarding the next gen 5er:

Base versions will be offered with both a 6-speed manual and a new nine-speed automatic, the latter being available as standard on higher end models.

Hi All, I have a pretty simple question that I can't find confirmation of anywhere else. The current model X3 soldiers on, from the 4/16 to 4/17 production dates (at least I'm guessing that's the start and end of production). Does that mean the new G01 will be available from 4/17 on...? Or will the current model production be extended by a few more months? Because I've heard that the new G01 model won't be available until 8/17 so I was a bit confused.

The production starts 8/17 and the sale in fall '17 (USA) and 3/18 in Europe.

The user who posted it seems to be an insider or he has good sources at BMW.
