I agree, it looks amazing. The movie posted by Scott on the previous page is also worth looking at. Truly beautiful!

Its a beauty in real life and they are serious about putting it into production above the 7er.
But there is a lot on this car that will be on the 7er and future BMWs. There is a lot of DNA to be passed down.

This image just sums up the individuality and exclusivity of the Concept.
The perfect bridge to Rolls-Royce combining a high luxury BMW sporting limousine to the statesman ship exclusivity of Rolls-Royce. It would look awesome in Black , very sinister even.
This segment is becoming important especially in the luxury market.

The greenhouse looks bulbous, the belt-line is too high, the back looks pinched, and the chrome is tacky. Am I the only one that doesn't like it?

Beyond the obvious, (this concept will someday 9 series, is up market, and arguably is all that is needed as a bridge to Rolls Royce, etc.) and it's wonderful to make it happen, it is difficult to me to realize by pictures of the differences with respect to 7 Series.

What are the differences in measurements?, The VFL is longer and wide?
I would like to see them side by side, just because the 7 Series is already tremendous flagship.

With its length of "just over 5 meters" the VFL Concept is on par with SWB F01 7er (5.07m).
So, the car is not larger than SWB 7er - actually it's shorter than LWB F02 7er!

9er is speculated to be at least as long as SWB RR Ghost (5.40m; I assume the next gen. Gohst will be a bit longer - about 5.50m long, so I guess 9er could be about the same length).

The medley of concave and convex surfacing, the sinewy,razor-edged accentuation...simply marvelous. With regard to the cars' proportions, I can find no flaws.

Obviously, many of the details will be "toned down" on future BMW production cars. Nonetheless, this exercise leaves M-Bs' W222 S-Class appearing visually staid. It will be interesting to witness how long M-B can maintain its' dominance in the luxury segment of the market. The competition from BMWs' G11 7 series, Audis' D5 A8/S8 and Porsches' Panamera II will surely be highly formidable.

Vision Future Luxury illustrates BMWs goal to be the most progressive luxury car maker in the world.

Some may dislike the styling but what you have is BMW traditional design elements past and present re-interpreted for the future. But the real innovation is what is underneath , how and what it is constructed with, And how to mate this and innovate with technology that is seen as essential in a luxury car.

Its a lead-in to the next 7er which essentially is showcased within this car but with style that is intended for debate. The Drivetrain on this car is particularly interesting because it is powered by BMWeDrive.
Although the Vision Future Luxury is completely radical in every thought it pales in comparison to how Rolls-Royce are going with the Phantom replacement especially with an additional Hybrid model that will shock with its initial displacement when coupled with a very powerful electric motor and lightweight construction.

BMW are so ahead of Carbon Fibre construction that it is not unthinkable to think that in the next decade your 3er and 5er will use complete Carbon structures like the i3 today.

I just LOVE the very prominent & sharp & high shoulder line. Obviously the forthcoming Aston Martin Lagonda features the same styling element:

I really don´t feel it. I can´t stand that rear. The rearlights are unnecessarily thin, the shape is weird, and the whole rear has some kind of Iron Man´s mask look that is not my cup of tea.

Regarding the side profile from thin angle, I can´t see why would any designer place another crease below the shoulder line. Don´t think that is the best place for it. And I´m sure I will be proven right when the G11 7er debuts with much classier side creases.

Best thing about the pic? The lower side profile is much more attractive that the current BMWs one.

The above picture is a very good example to completely understand the car.

Looking from the rear towards the front is possibly the best part because it is a preview of progressive surface design that we will see in future BMWs.
Look at the rear quarter and how it broadens the wheel arch giving it a powerful and solid aesthetic. Look at how the rear lights are on the surface of the rear wing and pronouncing it three dimensionally.
Even look at the wheel arches at the front , they are really broad and really defines the athletic look of this car but gives a very technical architectural look. Every surface change on this car has a significant job to fulfil and it all blends well.

Yes You actually do like it!

Sorry to disappoint, but I just can't. There really isn't much about this car that I like. In addition to the comments on the proportions and the chrome, I don't really like the headlights either. They just look too thin for a car whose front end is that tall. I think that had BMW not tried to go for the Audi-esque shape headlights (albeit flipped upside down), it may have been possible to pull off the thin headlights. Had they gone with a smoother shape it would looked less awkward.
