Joy Defines the Future. BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept.

Well, you have to think Giannis, that even Ferrari and Porsche are thinking in green nowadays. Guess which are going to be this BMW rivals?. The SLM from Mercedes (350hp V6 + Electric engines) and the equivalent from Audi. And in a few years, this is going to be everywere.

It´s going to be funny when some hypercars come in a hybid way, like the new Enzo (V8 + electric engines).

If you promise to stay away from this thread with your negativity, I certainly will!!!
Of course what you said is the popular thing to say here on GCF, but I do not care about popularity, at all.

Also, you don't have to like BMW or this car. There's plenty of choice out there, my man....plenty of choice in old combustion engine choices. BMW is going new age, just like Ferrari with the next gen Enzo, and Porsche with the 918. And soon everybody.

Negativity? Feel free to call it whatever you want. I don't really care.

But since you mentioned it, what does the VED Concept have in common with the 918 apart from being hybrid? The 918 has a great gas engine, is RWD and the hybrid system is supposed to be there for added power, and then improved efficiency.

The VED is working towards being the Prius of the sportscars segment. Is this what you want? A so-called sportscar with 185/40 R18 tyres? With AWD? With a diesel engine?

You, klier, above all, are supposed to be a hardcore BMW fan. How can you accept this car as following BMW's tradition? You above all, praise BMW for it's devotion to great engines and RWD. And now they come up with a diesel-hybrid AWD car, that's probably gonna be the new Z8 or whatever is decided to be.

Then comes this:

Of course what you said is the popular thing to say here on GCF, but I do not care about popularity, at all.

Popular thing or not, this is what I think. You don't have to agree with me, and I have the right to voice my opinion as long as I do it in a respectfull manner and I back up my arguments.

:t-cheers:

You could aso think BMW is going a step forward to its rivals, and being more aggressive with the powerplant. The 918, the Enzo II, etc, are all cars where the gas engine has an important presence, but in the future, the electric part will dfominate, and the gas engine will be getting smaller and smaller with every new generation until it finally disappear.

Because, first and foremost, I am open to new things. More so than being BMW fan. Tradition is nice, but only to a certain extend. Tradition tech wise would be like, HORRIBLE. Tech radically changes over time, and the combustion engines as we know them have had their 150 years by now wouldn't you say? I love them, make no mistake, but I will love the VED as much probably.

Of course. And you are always respectful. And your arguments are getting better and better too lately, so no complaints there :)

918 is also AWD. Like VED it has electric motors driving the front wheels.

Because BMW is going green? Because of the environment? I don't know and I don't want to.

Burying your head in the sand - never a good idea :D

I just want to see something that's true to the BMW's tradition.

Which is? ... sporty sedans/coupes if you ask me and I still see those coming from Munich.

As for 918 vs VED, I don't see why all this heart burn. Porsche makes sports cars, so it only normal there move into hybrid is one. BMW makes sporty sedans/coupes, so it is only normal that VED is just that - a sporty coupe. I don't think they ever claimed it is a supercar.

If I feel estranged from Munch, which I do, it is all the stupid activity this, activity that crap coming out of there, not VED.

What happen whith the Mini coupe and roadster ??? never see the prototipes

They are testing internally at Miramas and Speichersee, but due to hit the streets very soon for the first time, their imminent spy photographs are only a matter of time.

As we move to Winter a lot more BMW prototypes will begin their extensive winter testing. Although street time will be considerably low due to BMW investing in a climate facility in which cars can be tested without having to leave Munich. Simulations can put the car in arctic conditions without leaving the facility.
