Concept BMW Vision Future Luxury Concept

Future car concepts, design studies, prototype vehicles, emerging technologies, and previews of what may come next.
The size of the grille on this thing is an absolute joke. Rear lights and profile are stupendously beautiful, in typical BMW fashion. I think suicide doors would be great if possible on the new 7er. Very powerful way of differentiating itself from the competition.

Interior is a refreshing sight to see, but only if they can execute it on a production car to a level similar to this. Minimalist designs are amazing when and only if paired with very high-quality materials.

^completely agree on the size of the grille. I was just looking at it and thinking its' size is ridiculous

I think I understand what BMW is trying to do with its "New Design DNA". Granted, this concept is hardly the finished article but they are really not doing themselves any favors by showing this.

The upper part of the grille, the part that wraps around the hood, is overkill. Take that away and the look changes pretty significantly.
Grille should 1/3 smaller, at least. 33%.

Also interesting to note is that the car has no proper bootlid. It has an E30 style trunk, which is of course pure fantasy on a production car.
Expect major changes in the back.

Ps: The render is very accurate, especially the details!

Funny how that G11 render looks better than an official concept car

And yes it should be fairly close to the real deal.

Perfect! When I look ati this concept, I don`t see new 7, but BMW 9, a baby Rolls!
But, from spy pic of new 7, I can see front bumpers and bonnet from this concept. And front light uper line is the same....

I don't see much from the spy shots really. A bit early still, but maybe the camo will peel off a bit after the dust of this show in Beijing has settled.

When I saw the live presentation, I also realized what I don't like so much about the concept so far. The front seems inchoate, it's not the kidney size that bothers me but the fact they don't look very modern or hightech. Moreover, the headlamps look a little VWish to me, slight modifications (mostly at the fender side), however, would change this impression. Rear is interesting (in some aspects I see some resemblance with the S Coupé though) but I liked the one of the Gran Lusso much better. The general toning down of the concept will probably help.
But please BMW guys, keep the fantastic side profile. It makes for a great overall appearance.

I am currently preparing a lengthy exposition to help you understand how this all fits . It will be long but there will be exclusives as well as analysis into the market , previous concepts and of course future concepts.

I don't get all the uproar over the size of the grille. Is it huge and ostentatious? Absolutely. But who cares, it's about time BMW made one of those grilles that screams BMW from a mile away. Especially when you are going to be paying the price that a car like this will fetch. Trust me, most people dropping the approximately $200K that this car will likely go for will love the statement that the grille makes.

Anyway, the competitors do it every day. I mean, look at Audi - every freaking car they release has a grille the size of a snow plow on it (about as attractive as a snow plow too, I might add). And Mercedes seems to think that a car doesn't even really need a grille - rather, just throw the hugest star you can find on the front of the car and call it a day (and as if that's not enough, make the dang thing light up as well).

Do not go looking for clues on the prototype. Whilst some of the elements are evident there is a lot of formed plastic drilled onto the car to disguise areas especially the front and the side of the car.
This is why I call out renders who consider this to be elements and incorporate it when it is just visual bulk added.

I believe China is 7er's biggest market now,and the most 7er's sold here are the entry or medium level models which don't cost that much. You don't usually spot a 760Li that costs a fortune like you do with MB's S600.

^I`m heard last year that 50% of sold 7s in China are V12 model, and 80% of them are with individual interior.

I'm talking about this car being released as a 9 Series, being set a class above the 7 Series. That's what I meant when I was talking about $200K.
