This is not a criticism that's exclusive to Ferrari. There's a running joke that over the past few years, in some markets Porsche have sold more GT3, Turbos, GT4, Spyders and ST models than Carrera and Carrera S.
The watch markets have similar dynamics. This is why savy buyers and collectors buy older watches. They were truly limited - the owners control the markets. Newer watches are sold in high or vague quantities - the manufacturer control the market.
