M2 BMW M2 [official thread]

The BMW M2 is a high-performance version of the BMW 2 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. As the 2 Series replaced the 1 Series coupé and convertible models, the first-generation M2 was marketed as the most basic M model in the range. Official website: BMW M
M2 GTS?

Internet rumour has it that an M2 GTS mule was spotted around BMW GB headquarters with usual B&W camouflage. However, apparently, the eagle-eyed spotter caught sight of a roll cage inside.

I'll be keeping my eyes peeled thats for sure. Have seen BMW GB cars several times so hoping this will be one of them.

So you got her yet?

Not yet but it's getting very close. It was built on time but then it was sat at Bremerhaven for quite a few days waiting to leave the port. I must have just missed a boat. However, I investigated and found out there was a Wallenius Wilhelmsen car transporter due to sail from Bremerhaven to Southampton two days ago. Sure enough, it made it on to that one, so I was tracking it yesterday through the English Channel, and at 0632 this morning it docked in Southampton. There doesn't seem to be a lot of space at the docks so I imagine they move them on to the dealers fairly quickly. Then I should be able to collect it immediately. I've got a window of seven days from Wednesday in which I'm basically on stand by ready to collect it. Based on how quickly my M2 moved from Southampton, I'm quietly confident my M4 will be at the dealers by this Friday.

What engine S55? it s also an old engine with high co2. I have also an B58 M140 for the wife i can tell you that engine is awesome. Much lower co2 and throttle response is perfect. B58 with some M tweaks and that s perfect.

The next M3 and M4 will have the BMW M engineered S58 but first it will arrive in the X3M and X4M models.
It is also a possibility for the next M2 in a slightly less powerful incarnation.

You've just read ynguldyn's post on the other site haven't you? :D

Some interesting info surfaced in the M2 section of the German forum '2erTalk':
  • January 2018: M2 CS ordering process starts
  • March 2018: M2 CS goes into production | S55 engine | 410 hp | no limited edition
  • March 2019: M2 GTS goes into production | S55 engine | 450 hp | limited edition/production (the '999' figure has been heard, but could change)

I could see that making some sense, as it might largely avoid pitting the M2 against the M4 until the M4 is pretty much on its way out anyway -- but is there actually any evidence for the claims the CS will get the S55... or that there will be a GTS at all, I know it's rumoured... but what's that based on?

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
