3 Series (F30/F31/F34/F35) BMW F34 3er GT: Spy Pics - Renders - Info

The sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series consists of the BMW F30 (sedan version), BMW F31 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring') and BMW F34 (fastback version, marketed as 'Gran Turismo') compact executive cars. A long-wheelbase sedan version (model code F35) was sold in China. For this generation, the coupé and convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series nameplate. It was succeeded by the G20 3 Series, and the G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: October 2011 – October 2018
Oh that's just beautiful - another car that BMW will sell to people who shouldn't be buying a BMW in the first place. And it's a fekkin fastback for that matter as well.

Maybe it is time for people who's been buying BMWs in the first place to stop buying them? :D

As for the thing, whatever it is, looks better than the 5GT, but that is not saying much - in the end it will be another raised fat pig.

No way can I be called even a moderate fan of the 5er GT but this already looks better than that abomination. It's less raised and the rear end is not as protruded and massive.

OMG....why? Its already awful looking.

If you look closer you'll see little holes in the body panels - indicating there's a lot of plastic cladding attached to the real body, and then wrapped in that psychedelic masking tape.

So, even general shape can be predicted - yet even so it's compromised by fake panels at the rear, and front.

The car looks much leaner & sportier, more dynamic than 5er GT does. It looks more like a hatchback than a crossover - like 5er GT does.

Although shorter than 5er GT the 3er GT looks less condensed but more stretched. Being lower also helps to the sportier silhouette. 3er GT vs 5er GT will give you the same result like 3er sedan vs 5er sedan: sportier & more dynamic (3er) vs more mature & more elegant (5er).

3er family (incl. the GT, and the coupe, cabrio, GC ...) will make 5er & 6er line much more mature, and much more appropriate for older & more mature customers who prefer sporty elegance over elegant sportiness. Think E46 vs E39.

The big question is: Will there be an ///M version for this? I beleive Scott had mentioned that 3GT will replace the M3 sedan. Right?

^^^ 3 GT replacing M3 sedan??? Are you on drugs or something?? ;) If anything, the M3 sedan will become 4er coupe/sedan in the future...

Enjoy BMW guys. :D

THANKS!
A lot of people most certainly will, as BMW is the biggest premium brand with the biggest line up and with a car for everyone with some style and money

OMG....why? Its already awful looking.

M

Awful, isn't that a bit too much hyperbole?

The proportions are just slightly worse than E90 sedan (which is chubby to begin with), and nowhere close to 5er GT.

According to SCOTT BMW was playing with an idea to offer M3 GT instead of M3 Sedan (& M3 Touring).

But since Touring has never existed, and only M3 sedan needs a successor ... and with the 3er 4dr GranCoupe as a very realistic option, it makes much more sense to offer M3 GC instead of M3 sedan. And M3 GC will be a much sexier & proper option than M3 GT - since GT will be more of a comfy 3er (just like 5er GT is to regular 5er). :usa7uh:

What's clear is that M3 sedan will be discontinued.

Yeah, for years we've been hearing this....all kinds of crazy ideas you only get to read on forums...

We'll see when it's concrete. Which will be never.

Does the headlights look a bit like the VED concept? could be just fake camo though.
Anyway i am sure this will be a success, the 5GT is doing very well, i guess for buyers it is an alternative to the 7er, who probably wants more practical space.. so i can imagine the 3GT will do the same, an alternative to the 5.

I like to see those photos of F30, F34... because I know we should soon see F32 3 Coupe prototype too...

I'm part of the minority that loves the 5er GT. I'll probably be part of the minority that loves the 3er GT as well.

I hope not. I'd rather it's stay the M3 not the M4.

Mind the car is aimed at European markets mainly. Not an US market targeting product at all!

Phew. :D

This is a great plan, hopefully it will be accomplished.

I think the 5'er GT is downright hideous, and I'm shocked and grossed out by BMW doing it again with the 3-Series.... What are they, bored? :eusa_danc

It'll probably look better than the 5 GT (it has to), but I still think it'll be a major eye sore, personally.

Actually, there are a number of folks who are quite partial to the 5er GT. BMW appears to be rather pleased with the unit sales figures and were a 520D GT brought to market, those sales would certainly increase here in Europe.

I personally do not feel that the 5er GT is as offensive as many seem to believe. It is actually a pretty grand place to take a seat as its' interior is simply stellar. Rear view vision is non-existent, however. Camera is an absolute must.

I'm really looking forward to the 3er GT. It'll be a massive hit !

You heard it here first, folks !

Well, I guess I'm in the minority here, but I like the idea of a 3GT (GT3?) and I think the proportions on the prototype look fine. I'm still not a fan of the 5GT, save for the interior.

I think having a fastback hatch makes more sense based on the 3er vs. the 5er. The 3er has enough appeal where you can expand and offer a wider variety. My only concern is that I hope that there isn't a weight penalty and BMW takes mass reduction seriously with the entire 3er line-up.

5GT does look mighty grand. Those rear lights might not look good in pictures but if you think of it as a MPV, it is a mighty gorgeous thing. The 7er is a top end executive car but for a practical luxury expensive family car, 5GT is the car to own.. i'm pretty sure this 3GT will steal some sales from the 5series though.
