3 Series (F30) BMW F34 3er GT: Spy Pics - Renders - Info

The BMW F30 is the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series range. Body styles: F30 (sedan), F31 (wagon/,touring), F34 (fastback/gran turismo), and F35 (long-wheelbase). For this generation, coupé/convertible models were spun off to create the new BMW 4 Series. Predecessor: BMW E90. Successors: G20 3 Series, and G26 4 Series Gran Coupé (F34). Production: 2011–2018.
So what is this prototype? 3 Series GranTurismo of 4 Series GranCoupé ?

Is this based on this concept? which was accedintaly spotted..

Woah! Where did you find that and are there any other pictures?

That thing looks pretty good actually. From what I can see, this looks like a really nice and new design.

as a little aside, i was really hoping the 1er would adopt some styling cues from it, but alas, it doesn't seem that will be the case.

Funny you mention that. That is one of my biggest issues with the 1er and I wish BMW would give it the nicer treatment.

Weird.

It's crisp, clean and serious looking. Make the headlights a little slimmer, and I'd buy that.

There was a brown CGI I saw somewhere here on these forums that I thought looked quite good. If I see, I'll post it.

EDIT: I just noticed that Bomabadier had posted that CGI a few post above me. Silly me.

Whilst I respect the artists creativity and contribution. For me it appears to be an elongated X1 something which the 3er Gran Turismo is not.

The Autobild rendering actually shows some cues from the 3er GT except the rear lights are more wraparound and L-Shaped. If you look on the photos from the car scooped on the trailer from the roof down to the C-Pillar. You can see the wrap around in the actual metal that actually forms a traditional triangular shape allowing the glass to form the hoffmeister kink.

In the interior it emulates the 5er GT with a complete wrap around dash which spreads around into the door panels both front and rear.
The end result is very cocooning and a new level of luxury for the class.
The shelf like dash also is carried over which is good because if like me (on the 5er GT , you can balance individual Werthers Originals on the dash prior to consumption.;)

Then there is the 3er Gran Coupe which would also join , basically it is a four door version of the new 3er Coupe.
Just as Gran Turismo opens up the door for the 5er and now the 3er , Gran Coupe will form the 6er and the 3er.

3er GT and 3er Gran Coupe are models that can be spun off the new modular matrix and are in the prime position for increased profits.

With the BMW 1er and 3er in their standard guise before additional expansion projected profit rises are about 10-20% higher than on the current E87/E90. And with all the models combined for expansion that will be a very high profit margin but very worthwhile considering BMW's large investment in developing this matrix.

Damn! That 3er GranCoupe CGI looks oh-so sleek and sexy. It looks as good as (if not better than) the new 6er.

This would definitely allow the 3er Coupe to have an even more sporty character if BMW wanted to.

If that's the 3'er GT, than what does the "GT" moniker imply anyway? Thing thing looks super swoopy-"4 Door Coupe"-ish.

From other thread :

Buddy, where did you get this pic? If that's how the new 3GT will look like, then it's AWESOME! WOW! :icondrool
Scott, is that the concept for 3GT? How similar is it to the production one?

That's the secret car that was spied back in August 2009. We have a thread somewhere... but here are other spy shots and a larger version of Jon's CGI: Illustrated: BMW mystery concept is not Vision Z [UPDATE]
