Great info, thanks Scott. Glad to know I go to Brussels to see it instead of having to journey to Geneva.

Were you not able to make it for the pre-Drive event then?

No. because I was only with the 1M till October to complete the marketing materials and then I move onto the next project to be completed which was the 6er Convertible and the 1er Coupe and Cabrio Life Cycle Impulse.
We complete them as a team and then move onto the next.

My business at Leipzig was on the F20 which they have started to build ist stage FEP cars before the typical camouflage is applied. They will become public after the new year .

The interior of the F20 is very high quality nice materials and quality switchgear, There is a simularity of the design appearance with the X1 interior. There is also a significant increase of legroom for rear passengers. Surprisingly the amount of options allow you to have a 120i equipped to the level of a fully specified 5er .
My time was currently split between Leipzig and Garching although it is nothing to do with the 1M.

Round flight to Brussels is only €350... hrmm... I have to give this a good thaught.

My dealer told me that its already sold out till April end production. I will get May production. By the time its in showroom it will be sold out till December.

Dumb question?
All Ms have had engine designation starting with S. Why the 1 M-coupe engine starts with N as in N54?.

E30 M3 - S14
E24 M6 - S38
E34 M5 - S38
E36 M3 - S50/S52
E46 M3 - S54
E39 M5 - S62
E60 M5 - S85
E90/92 M3 - S65
E70 X5/X6 M - S63

S designation is for engines developed by M division. 1M does not have one, it has the BMW N54 with few changes - what exactly those changes are, we don't know yet, but obviously they are not extensive enough to warrant a "S" designation.

What does mean developed by M? S63 is also just N63 with a few changes!

S63 actually has few mechanically different components compared to N63, like twin scroll turbos vs normal ones. Different exhaust manifold for the cross bank exhaust scheme S63 uses, cylinder head and I believe even different pistons. I had posted the list of difference sometime back, but can't find it.

For me it's only a 1.5/ 2 hour drive, and I have already visited the Brussel car show before in the past.
Needless to say, I'm going again. This has to be the biggest premiere ever for that show (it's not a big profile show like Geneva or Frankfurt at all)!!

Or you can wait and see the car in Geneva along with it's new big brother.

Brussels has a motorshow each year. The upcoming one in January is the 'small one', having rather only what they call 'leisure cars' such as convertibles, SUV's, station cars etc. You won't find ferraris, lambo's,... The show in January 2012 is the full one. So I wouldn't advise to go next month, except if you really want to see the 1M.

Indeed, you won't find big premieres, but a couple of years ago the E-class was shown as a world premiere.

I would rather go and see the car in Geneva, because the car will probably be more accessible and you will be able to see other BMW Premieres both World and European @ Geneva. Plus there will be more cars @ Geneva.

I like the X2 or X4 Coupé that is on your avatar? What is it?
X5...

I hope I'll go to Geneva and hope to see more M's that I saw last time. There was only the M3 Competition Individual. In 2011 there should be M1 and M5, and probably X5 M and X6 M.

Wow, if the next X5 is going to be so, the current X6 is going to have hard days.
