1M code named "Pyrat" by BMW...

fdjskks759694.webp

It looks to me that this is confirmation that the new 1M will have 250 Kw N54engine. That is 340 HP. Engine code: N54B3OTO

What is even more interesting is the highlight text! Looks like BMW is thinking about a special US only model with 332 Kw or 451 HP! I personally think this will be the engine that ends up in the next M3. I don't think BMW will offer a 1M with this sort of HP power. But seeing it on the screen is very interesting indeed!

It also looks to be the very same 1M Engine code: N54B3OTO, which would suggest that with only a tune/SW the 1M engine will make another 100 Hp!!! Food for thought!

Also of interest (IF you look up that engine listing) is the fact that BMW will also have a 135iS model in 2012. Same HP though, at 225Kw or 306 Hp. The 135iS has engine code: N55B3OUO

And... if you keep looking up that list you can seee various engines of interests.

Around €50k is just fine, as long as you don't have to spend another €20k on options to get it in decent spec.

Given that the RS3 will be €49,999 in base form, I'd say you are pretty much bang on target there, Dunkel... :D

Nice find and fine food for thought! I wonder what is the origin of that crazy number... wrong unit; Kwh instead of bhp? 450 hp 1M model?

I am dubious about this list , because there is no plans to offer a special market only 1M, especially when there are key M-markets such as China and Russia which see rising demand for M models snapping at the heels of the US market.

The engine in the 1M has such potential but it will not come with the 1M due to the close proximity of the BMW M3. BMW will not let the 1M overstate the M3 , in the early project days this was the stipulation that 1M should not surpass the M3 to make the M3 irrevelant.

The iS could feature in the next generation 1er Coupe but the term "S" is used to describe the "Sport" M model of the 135i here. If you check the dates you see the standard 135i is dated but classified as "S".

As for the BMW 1M Coupe , BMW will build models till the end of production to satisfy demand but production ends for the 1M by the first quarter of 2012.

Has production already started? Its been mentioned that the production run was 9 months, its only 4 months until end of April. Or are you referring to the financial Q1 rather than calendar Q1?

Cheers,

MArk.

This is baffling, as in no way can the 1M make the M3 irrelevant. I certainly have no interest in the 1M no matter how fast it is. I need a car for more than just getting from A to B in the quickest way possible. The M3 is the perfect compromise. I'm pretty sure the majority of M3 owners wouldn't be in the market for the 1M either.

And that's the reason I didn't even raise an eyebrow when I saw the post at 1addicts. BMW blessing the 1M with a 445hp would be as illogical as Coco Cola changing the colours of the brand to green for the New Zealand market.

I guess it makes sense. I'm interested in both the 1M and the M3 for different, but closely related reasons; the 1M as a driver's car, second car, and the M3 as the only car.

Next bmw m3 to feature 445hp six-cylinder?

LEFTLANENEWS

There is little doubt that the next-generation BMW M3 will be stepping down from a V8 to s six-cylinder engine, and a recent image leak may have just given us a sneak peak and the next-gen motor.

An eagle eyed member of the 1Addicts forum managed to snag a screen shot that appears to reveal the next-generation M3 engine. Listed under the N54B3OTO engine code for the U.S. market, the engine is claimed to generate 445 horsepower.

BMW fanatics will notice that the N54B3OTO engine code is shared with the upcoming M 1-Series. However, the M version of the 1-Series is slated to come packing 340 horsepower, indicating that a few software tweaks could easily add another 100 horsepower.

It also remains possible, although unlikely, that the 445 horsepower engine is earmarked for a special edition of the 1-Series. While the idea of a 451 horsepower 1-Series sounds great, it would inevitably outperform the current M3, which would be a major no-no for the German automaker.

M1 with 450 PS, M3 GTS suspension, M3 GTS brakes and Akrapovic exhaust system...... :icondrool

Select group of customers taken to Leipzig by BMW to test the new 1-Series M Coupe.

BMW 1-Series M Coupe customer test drives - leaked doc shows 450 HP for US model

I was at Leipzig works this week and the 1M has begun to come down the production line along with the Life Cycle Impulse cars although these are not for customer but for Press fleet and showcars for the debut in early 2011.
The 1M Coupe will make it's European premiere at the Brussels autoshow in January alongside the 1er Coupe and Cabrio Life Cycle Impulse.

The World Premiere of the 1M Coupe and 1er Coupe and Cabrio LCi is still the NAIAS in Detroit this January.

Geneva will have the Swiss premiere but a couple of other World Premieres will help with the disappointment that Geneva is not the main european launch venue for the 1M Coupe. Although Geneva will coincide with the press launch/drives for the new 1M Coupe.

After paying so much money for a ///M car, why should there be need to chip tune for additional HP. It should come with that kind of HP from factory.

People have modded the 135i already to 400hp+ so an 1-M coupe with under 400 hp does not make sense to me.

Great info, thanks Scott. Glad to know I go to Brussels to see it instead of having to journey to Geneva.

Were you not able to make it for the pre-Drive event then?
