7 Series (G11) BMW 7-Series (G11/12) reviews, test-drives, etc.

The BMW G11 is the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from 2015 to 2022. Model codes: G11 (short-wheelbase version), and G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons, collectively referred to as the G11. Production: July 2015–2022. Model years: 2016–2022.
A single word can make or break a thing, let alone a whole sentence, particularly prominently placed like that!

I really don't think a car as good as the new 7 Series would be affected by a single word in a magazine. Especially not in article which 99% is saying how fabulous it is.

People really need to get a grip and stop picking apart in minute detail any single mention of a British car in a British magazine.

^^ By saying how great the 7er is, they actually mean the RR is even better...

BTW, I checked out the weight of S350d and it says 1955 kg on the Dutch site. 730d appears to be 200 kg lighter.

Well said.
Actually, in my experience, the Brits are more critical of British cars than anyone else.

The Brits have given us vehicles that no other nation would have created ....just like the French, Italians, Americans, etc.

This is one of the downsides of Globalisation; the individualism of nations (their cultural identities and idiosyncrasies) are being lost as supranational uniformity takes over.

That's not correct. You're comparing the laden and unladen weights.

The 730d is 1,830kg to EU1.

The S 350 d is 1,955kg to EU1.

So the 730d is 125kg lighter than the S-Class.

Ah yes probably mixing numbers. I saw the number in the article posted by Soup, but didn't double check as I should have done. After seeing the 1755 kg I went directly to the MB website to compare..

It doesn't matter that 99% of the article is about how great the 7-series is. In fact, the more they build up the 7er's greatness, the more the Range will appear superior.

A reader learning about the 7er will be impressed by the author's comments about the quality of its ride, the beauty of the interior, and how innovative a product it is. However, just as a final word, they will read that the Range Rover is all those things but even BETTER. The S-Class is mentioned for good reason too.

The magazine essentially did a comparo between three cars (the S-Class, the 7er and the Range) and determined Range the winner with practically zero rationale.

Ok guys ok, please stop with the britsh bias discussion. Some think the british writings denote a certain bias or agenda, some not. Now let's all don't give a shit anymore, well at least not here.

Why get ofended by the mention of a british car?

Because the W222 and G11 are at the very cutting edge of modern technology in every possible way. Claiming another car is better on this level (particularly a SUV!) is a downright insult and should be addressed every single time. Call it public awareness :)

And it's not a British thing; when a French, Japanese or whatever magazine claims to have a car better than it's German counterpart I will point out the bias card until 'their car' is proven to be a better car over the years in reliability, sales, satisfaction, consumption, performance and the whole nine yards.

Never forget @dr Dunkel's sig. German tech FTW

Well, but it is arguably better. I mean, it's a BMW after all (the Rolls Royce).
I know where you are coming from but

1. I suppose it's a better riding car, perfectly finished and with a less sterile style, which is subjective

2. British are always like that. It's part of their charm :D

These are manufacturer numbers. I'll wait until we get a full test between all the luxury sedans.

Officially in love with the 7-series. I will be the first to admit that I wasn't the biggest fan when it first came out. I thought the interior and exterior might have been a bit too evolutionary. Now I'm utterly smitten by it.

It's weird--I tend to like cars that grow on me longer than the ones I like right away. There's something about slowly digesting the design of a vehicle that is more gratifying than just blatantly being attracted to it.

The kidneys looked way too big on the oficcial potos. The car looks gorgeous in this pics tho. I like it more now
