7 Series (G11) BMW 7-Series (G11/12) reviews, test-drives, etc.

The BMW G11 is the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from 2015 to 2022. Model codes: G11 (short-wheelbase version), and G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons, collectively referred to as the G11. Production: July 2015–2022. Model years: 2016–2022.
Well, 9 out of 10 cars sold in my market will be 730d:s (just as there are no S-class petrol ones on sale anywhere (so I guess it's the same ratio in the star-department)) - the low end diesels are the important ones.

ALL the first drives are horrible.
I want real reviews. Preferably against what used to be the benchmark, the S

Edit; actually not all, I've read a couple of decent ones indeed.

I don't know about other makers maybe it's the same, but BMW being BMW, should fix the steering feel problem? I have seen it come up quite a couple of times with different model reviews.

BMW would throw their toys out of their pram if somebody turned up in Portugal with an S-Class, before throwing the journalists out of the press event. Remember the 3 Series LCI debacle? BMW have probably laid on lots of nice food and drink and it would be VERY rude if someone did that. Very rude.

What's clear from these reviews is that the G11 is leaps and bounds ahead of the F01. A distinct note of disappointment accompanied most F01 reviews I recall (leaden handling, a lack of rolling refinement compared to the W221, a bit "soulless") which has completely vanished with the G11. It has built on the F01's strengths of excellent powertrains, and a superb infotainment system, while also becoming considerably quieter and more comfortable. Journalists avoid giving hard conclusions as to superiority/inferiority in first drive reviews, presumably so they can spin a nice comparison spread out of the new arrival. Even so, most seem to quietly hint that the S-Class still stands at the top of the class: a fraction quieter, a slightly better resolved ride and a good deal more visual flair are all implied. The G11 isn't the best luxury saloon, but it wasn't meant to be. As the middle ground between a Quattroporte/XJ and the S, I'd say this is the best 7er ever :)

This 7 is undoubtedly lovely and a very special car, which couldn't be said about the last one. BMW has really thrown a lot of effort behind it and you know what, while it may not do so in sales, there will undoubtedly be comparison tests in which it trumps the S-class. And so it should if it offers a superior driving proposition for those after that. If the S manages to maintain a ride and nvh superiority I'll be happy.

I find them very similar, especially the rear

Do you prefer the dual tip? Or the quad exhaust integrated into the bumper?

I find it annoying that people ask for more exhausts like it's just free power, probably the G11 would still look good with a dual tip like the E32 above.

Deleted all the C63/M3 talk. Please stick to 7er. Even S and other competitors is okay as far as I am concerned but please keep it civil.

The s class is not ok either in this thread.

You're talking bad about my beloved F01. I disagree with it not being lovely. It still is to this very day.

And your boner for MB is even harder, but I don't care about that at all.

Can we stop talking about boners and get back on top-ic?

What topic? Who has the biggest extension? :hilarious:

BMW or Mercedes?

I know a little bit of klier dies every time someone says something like "Mercedes C series" or "BMW 5 Class".
Well, I've heard it in Spanish, I don't know if you had :D

Has BMW released a video of their laser headlights on the 7er? I want to see them in action. The Audi A8 intelligent lights were impressive back then, I can only imagine these
