5 Series (G30/G31/G38) BMW 5 Series (G30/31/32) Spy Pics & Info Discussion

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
Very encouraging for the 2 or 3 people who actually track 5 series sedans!
This is just a wild guess from my side but I don't think they are trying for the N-ring laprecord. I think it's a suspension test in general. N-ring is a complex track and a great place to try/adjust and to try out various suspension settings for roads outside a track.

...but again this is just me throwing a wild guess that you already know about this :D

No you are right. Although performance cars are tested to the limit. The more mundane street models are adjusted to adapt to multiple conditions not just for Europe but also extended countries like Great Britain:pLol!, The US etc.
The basic setting begins at home and then adapted for global testing. Just like this 5er in Dubai.

Otherwise it would make no sense on why a VW beetle is trying to best the lap record. :ROFLMAO:

Europe will have the expected Emission leading entry level Diesel and Petrol models in regards to the huge fleet market the model fulfils. And course both eDrive models 530e iPerformance and 540e iPerformance. And then the flagships M550i,M550d and eventually M550e. And then the ultimate interpretation of the 5er - The M5.
I have seen the Individual Specification M550i Touring with Excellence packet and a standard 520d in M Sport recently and they are stunning motor cars.

My comment wasn't to be taken seriously. Manufacturers like to test at the Ring because one lap at the ring is equal to something like 1,000 miles of normal road driving so they can quickly determine the durability and lifespan of components.
