5 Series (G30/G31/G38) [Official] 2020 BMW 5 Series G30 LCI (Facelift)

The BMW G30/G31/G38 is the seventh generation of the 5 Series. Officially announced in October 2016, sales began in February 2017. Production years: November 2016-2023. Body styles included: 4-door sedan/saloon (G30), 5-door wagon/estate (G31), and 4-door long-wheelbase saloon (G38).
The 530d and 540d look like the sweet spot models in the 5 series range as they combine excellent economy together with really good performance, especially the 540d has massive torque so the low to midrange punch must be explosive

Unless you can get the M550i… a weapon
As accomplished as this car is, for the majority of people it's just not economical enough to use on a daily basis. I think the 540i suits that purpose better.

However, money no object I can't see any real petrolhead choosing the straight-six over the V8.

If you want effortless luxury then the M550i enable you to accelerate hard and effortlessly without the noise of an aggressively revving engine.

I quite like the M550i's more understated approach. Reminds of the M5s of yore.

The M550i's twin-turbo V8 even sounds better than the one in the M5.

M5 over the M550i no question about it if money is no object , but I definitely do agree the M550i sounds much better than the M5 ..true authentic V8 rumble:

I do also get the allure of the M550i it’s not overly aggressive and flies under the radar and still has a V8 probably the last of its kind if rumours are to be believed.

Look or sound?!?. Also elektrical cars are
Just not fun. Once range is twice or thrice of current capacity and are about 1000-1500lbs lighter, I’ll embrace the tech completely. Until then no dice

I couldn't possibly own an electric car. I have lead foot, so the battery charge would be depleated in no time at all and then the range anxiety would kick in. And I am the most impatient man in the world (I once threw a Motorolla RAZR at the screen of an HP Laptop that ran on Windows Vista, because the Windows crashed. Windows Vista is the worst Windows ever). The fear of waiting 4 to 5 hours to recharge a BEV, doesn't entice me one bit to buy a BEV. I'm sure battery tech will improve and recharging times will be greatly reduced, but until then, I'm sticking to combustion engines, thank you very much.

Or perhaps a hybrid in the near future... Not a Prius, though, even though the new Prius is now a hot car. No, I'd probably trade my diesel SUV for something like a RAV4 Hybrid or a Corolla Cross 2.0 Hybrid AWD if Toyota ever decide to sell 196 Hp Corolla Cross Hybrid AWD over here in Latin America, which I fear they won't.

A classic and most recognizable 5 Series proportion: a conservative three box executive limousine is now on it’s last leg.

Apologies if this isn't a FL G31. What I do know is that the plume of black smoke would make Greta Thurnberg have an orgasm and It's totally OK say that, because she's 20 years old and she's now a criminal.

BMW Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition, with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 engine making 634 horsepower (466 kilowatts) and 626 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque.

It's often hard for me to choose between equivalent Mercedes and BMW models. The Alpina variant tips the scale for me every time, and this B5 GT might be the last ICE BMW I would consider as an option.
