@Merc1 Finally got the chance to drive the 540i yesterday, while it is a very nice and comfortable car to drive, I wasn't completely satisfied with the slightly slower steering response. As expected the engine is butter smooth and offers effortless performance. Strangely even in sports mode it didn't feel as quick as the E 400.

The BMW is also slightly behind the E class in noise suppression. Overall interior quality is about the same as the E class. I do like the nappa leather covering the lower door trim.

I will write a more detailed review if you guys want to know more.

That 540i looks spectacular. I dislike the dark wood/black leather combo for the interior though.

As fas as I know, the interior of the E-Class is just not on par with the 5er one. Not sure how both cars drive because I have not tested them.

Registrations of the G30/31 appear to now be really taking off here in the cars´ home market. They are rapidly becoming very common sightings.

Because it's so smooth :cool::p

And of course we all like to read more, but it might be an idea to not mention the E class any further ;)

I would say best looking BMW since E39.

The more I have seen them around my area the more I like them.

But I do feel it needs different, smaller rear lights, with maybe more '3D' in it for the facelift.
I mean, the FL 7er is going to get thin lights, the new 3er will go in that direction too, and the 5er will be 'old school' looking for the coming years...

I do not remember BMW to change the outer shape of the rear lights, except of the part in the boot lid (E90 Lci and E65Lci). So I do not expect the lights of the 7er to become thinner after the Lci, at least of the part in the rear fender

I have ZERO doubt better looking rearlights are coming for the G30 LCI. They are the weak spot of the car. Probably new front end as well, depending on how the G11 LCI turns out.

Btw, a mediterranean blue G30 is coming to the family garage boys and girls.

Some sort of paywall there? I can't read the article, it's all blurred out.
Google translation:
When it comes to the most popular cars of German customers, this is usually a very manageable field with little movement in it, especially when it comes to the top 10, the absolute favorites. In September, however, there is a car there, which one would not have expected there - the 5er of BMW. The model has a loyal clientele in the upper middle class, but in absolute terms, the 5er but otherwise the bestseller crown leaves other models from the own house.

Fourth place behind the perennial leader VW Golf, the new VW Tiguan listed in second place and the long-lasting VW Passat on three is already remarkable. This leaves the Bayer models such as the Skoda Octavia, the Skoda Fabia and also the Mercedes C-Class behind it. The top 10 new registrations will be completed in September 2017 by the Audi A4, the Mercedes SUV GLC and the Corsa Opel Corsa.
The Mini, who is ranked 11th and right in front of his group brother BMW 1er, got off to a good start. In September, the Ford Focus (14th place), the BMW 2 (16th), the BMW X1 (19th place) and the Opel Insignia (20th place) have also made a big splash in the top 50s. The otherwise strong VW Polo can only be found in 21st place. Seat Leon fell back to 26th place.

The Renault Clio is the only Frenchman to be placed in the top 50 new registrations in September.
New or back in the top 50, on the other hand, the Nissan Qashqai is ranked 30th, the Opel Adam on rank 32 or the Fiesta on position 39th. Also back in the elite club is the Mazda CX-5 (41th place) is the Skoda Superb on rank 43 as well as the small Ford van B-Max, which could secure the 50th place.
The most powerful import models come from Skoda with Octavia and Fabia. In September, the most powerful Korean driver is the Hyundai i20 on the 28th place. Italy is the Fiat 500 directly behind it. The Qashqai is the first Japanese to rank 30th. France has only one model in the top 50 with the Renault Clio on 40. The two Dacia models Sandero and Duster, which were able to place in the previous month in the top 50, are out again in September, with the Sandero on rank 51 the Class content had almost succeeded.

I doubt it, because the rear fender is part of the basic body and to implement changes into it would require very high investments. Maybe something in the boot lid. We shall see

You can already see it in the spy shots; it is very prominent and visible. Funny part is, the boot part hasn’t been added yet to the testing fleet, they simply slapped on the current boot and that’s why the difference is so visible.
