Vs AutoBild: First test new 5-series vs E-class

I'm a Moderator, adding people on ignore list isnt going to help my job. Besides I find it childish to do so. If you cant handle it, the person got issues.
No Im not going to delete this post, its you who embarass yourself so Im going to let the public see this. And if you dont see how you trash every thread with you BMW vs MB talk then you got issues.
Im not going to defend your actions anymore, now we are all equals.

BTW not long ago you thanked me becuase I deleted a few posts and you said it was a better solution, now you are against it. Haha, it's so sad. You need to control your temper or it won't end happy.

Yes, you're a moderator. How you became one, I don't even want to know ;) j/k
Also, me trashing every thread with BMW vs MB talk??? Let me just roll my eyes please. This is about 5er vs E class in Internal combustion. It doesn't get any more BMW vs Mercedes than this. I only do that in the appropriate threads anyways, so you can stop trying to put me down as if I am some crazy troll. That is completely uncalled for, and just plain silly.

A moderator shouldn't be telling people what is a good discussion and what is not a good discussion. All you have to do is check posts against the TOS. That is your 'job', as you call it. Nothing more.

And lastly, I still love you Andreas ;) We've been e-buddies for what, 7 or 8 years??? It's ok to have an arguement every now and then right?

So, I've scanned through this thread trying to make out what all the argy-bargy is about. It's going to be futile to attempt to defend Just_me's and klier's standpoints but here goes anyway; I just want to put some points forward...

klier has a point when he says that this is the Internal Combustion forum and this is the purpose of it. It is about debating which car you feel to be superior in a robust but good natured manner. So, no problem there.

But, klier is not correct when criticising another member's viewpoint that the debate is pointless. I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Just_me, personally I feel that the debate around panel alignment is over the top - that's all that the mod was proffering: an opinion on why such a big fuss is being made over trim alignment. Heck, personally I feel the same. However, it's not to say that Just_me or myself instruct that the debate should end. No one called for that. Instead, klier over-reacted.

Now we have a conflict. Even if it's just a little one. ;)

Folks, you need to relax and stop personalising every post as an attack on oneself - this is a broad request to all involved. Please.

So a couple of friendly PMs between old friends to say sorry and then lets move on please.

One small thing I'd like to add Martin:

J_M is not just another member with an opinion. He is, with you, one of the highest authorities here on this forum. So if someone like him or you starts saying that a certain debate is pointless/not wanted, other members might not start a discussion in the future about a certain small stupid detail which is still perfectly fine to discuss for members who feel like talking about it :) It's nitpicking, but sometimes there's very little news and people still want to have their daily discussion/arguement...

For the rest, now harm meant from my side. but that's always the case :t-cheers:

Klier, I didnt force you or anyone to stop arguing, I just said it was a pointless discussion. I didnt even quote anybody. You took it personal and jumped right on me. Two times in one day. Yes we are old internet buddies but no need to push it. You overreacted so move on and learn from your mistakes and dont do it again. Or I send Betty B for you and you know you dont want that.

Righty-O then... moving along.

Internal Combustion they say?

Here's my own, personal feeling and opinion regarding the E-Klasse in the context of its competition with the F10 5er.

The E-Klasse is a fabulously built and engineered car - no question. I think its dashboard has more of a quality look about it and it looks - this is a perception - much tougher and more solid than the BMW's.

However, as a 38 year old, even I have to say that the BMW murders the Merc in the design, driver appeal and mechanical department - in particular the engines, which, I feel to be class-leading in every single model. I am of the impression that the Merc resorts to appealing to an older customer demographic and that, as an overall product offering, the BMW has much broader appeal.

Barring the E63 AMG - I still find the W212 to be dull.

Nicely resolved;)

Enthusiasm is a competitor sport, though as with all sports one has to keep to the rules otherwise you will get a red card :D

Now, I am not the professor nor the total expert BUT I do have a keen eye AND appretiation for good materials and the fit + finish, those who read 2 or 3 of my posts will know. Actually, the cabin has to be better than ANY part of the car, that is the place the driver spends his time, with his purchase.

IMO the E-class interior is VERY well made and most of the materials are top notch THOUGH the plastic used for the upper half of the dash looks 'shiny' and 'hard' to touch (I am not saying that it is hard to touch) it looks....I have spend my time in an E.

I did critisize BMW on materials used in the 1er + X1, that is still TOTALLY unacceptable for a premium marketed car and I do not care what the car's purchase price is - If you market a product PREMIUM it has to be PREMIUM - finish!

The F10 as with previous generations like the E39, always had a better finish and 'look + feel' that the E-class couterparts. BMW knows how to make plastic look good in the 'more expensive premium cars' in their range. Matt finishes, wood and metal surfaces always looks the part - That is not always the case with competitors i.e. the new A8 has a MAJOR flaw with the 'plastic look' line as discussed in that forum - that splits the dash in it's upper and lower halves.

I made time to go through ALL my downloaded pics of the F10 interior, enlarged them and inspected EVERY detail....there is NOTHING misaligned on any panel - EnI's verdict is correct:usa7uh:

My point in all the above "IMO's" is BMW's material standard impresses me most - in their price class. A BMW interior makes me feel good and has the feel good - quality factor - ever since the days of the E39 5er / E53 X5 IMO, BMW has the upper hand from carpet used to roof liner fabric and plastics (except the 'lower priced 1er an X1...and I am NOT happy about that AT ALL!)

Tell me again why someone hasn't already deputized you to solve the mid east conflict? :)

As for the stupid panel alignment/gap stuff, as the person who broached it in this thread, my apologies to the forum. But as I stated it first post that started all this crap - I am usually last person to notice these minor stuff. What got me going was how all this nit picking is fair game in the official 5er thread and you point the same faults in a Mercedes and the same people loose it. IMO, this topic, along with hardness of plastic makes for some of the most stupidly retarded discussions we have around here and hopefully this is the last of it - though I have my doubts.
