Huck is amazing, he almost nailed it again :usa7uh:

I'm convinced he is an insider of some sort, but at all the German car companies? How is that possible? Does anyone know who he actually is? His MB and Audi predictions are just too close to be mere coincidences. Either that or "Huck" just a ghost name used by the German car companies to put out "spy pics" to gauge reaction across the net.

Woooow... Nice rant!:usa7uh:

Yeah, it is a big let down for me. Though I am a BMW owner/fan, I always liked/envied Audi's clean lines and Nuvolari epitomized that. I considered it to be one of most beautifully designed cars - ever - the details were stunning and the same time the whole car was more beautiful than the sum of its parts. There was not even one line that was unnecessary or out of place or made me go "wish it was like this instead".
I would seriously considered buying one if Audi build one instead of this :t-banghea.
Look at the front - they couldn't even properly center the fog lights -ughh.

Top notch interior, perfectly designed, let alone materials used.

Front is very good looking and side profile as well, but the rear is not what i'd call perfect as interior for example.

Overall, i give it 9/10 for now... I need to see it IRL of course...

Kudos to Audi, anyway.:usa7uh::bowdown:

:t-cheers:

You mean this shoulder line? :t-banghea
No I was refering to this one actually.

To be honest.. I'm heavily disappointed with the exterior design..
I totally agree with Sunny.. IMO the design is a step backwards after the R8 and the TT.. The wavy shoulder line doesn't do it at all.. maybe I have to see in real life first..won't take long till I do. The front is totally ruined by the hideous contra-directioned air intakes.. the whole car looks like it's been design by an external studio which was trying with all violence to use Audi's design elements on a body with a very different form language..

I'm very excited to see what Wolfgang Egger is going to do to Audi's design, becase if the Q5 id going to look like this, I think Audi needs some help.. never thought I'd ever say something like that:t-hands:

I agree that it looks very different from all the Audis we have seen so far. The R8 also had a rather stout shoulder line that is only interrupted by the wheel arches, like in the new TT.

The A5 however has an entirely new shoulder line that doesn't look like an Audi from the start. However, I think it's quite special - will this wavy thing be a one-off? I hope so.

The rear also hints at future rear light designs.

The A5's shoulder line is simply a less pronounced and shorter version of the R8's.

First Audi I don't like at first sight. First picture I didn't like the front, later I did. Profile reminds me of Bentley Continental for some reason, rear of a Lexus, maybe LS. Don't know yet, won't make this my final judgement.
It reminds me of the Bentley CGT a little bit too -- those curves are unusual on an Audi. The front is the only thing that I would like to see changed -- it doesn't have quite the same impact as the rest of the design IMO.

WHAT THE?! Woah, woah, woah! Time out!

...

I need to catch my breath. I just logged on to see what's poppin' beofre I hit the sack - lo and behold, I'm met with real images of the Audi A5...

Ok...

Toughts coming to me...

No...

No...

Audi. NO! THIS is NOT the coupe we were waiting for - The vehicle that would break Audi out conservative midrange malaise and give us some "status oomph" to rival the 3er, 6er and CLK.

No, this an unexciting, disappointing mess.

The C-pillar is so dull, so inert, I'm reminded of the D2-model A8. The profile is such that I'm left thinking that this car is a hatchback.

Then there's the rest of this car! I showed these photos to my wife - the first thing she said was "This looks old. Is this a new Audi?" The snout is a direct reprise of the A3 with nothing new to catch my gaze. Where's the sculpting? Where's the tension?

And that rear... such an anonymous shape I'd expect on an Acura. It seems so arbitrary. It's square, flat, and just... blah.

I'm really bummed out. I thought this could be the "Cool Audi" I could possibly aspire to that would fuse together Audi's low-key luxury image with the sexiness of a midrange luxury coupe.

Audi has proposed many fresh and exciting ideas over the past several years - ideas that really deserved fleshing out. Key amongst those was the Nuvolari coupe, that had nearly all of us drooling unanimously. At that point, I really felt that Audi had unique direction and true style leadership. Do we need any proof? Just look at the new US Honda Civic Sedan and Acura's new MDX and RDX. All those vehicles stole Audi's rear light riff like it was nobody's business.

I think the A5 will be an excellent car. Heck, the interior alone almost justifies the price of admission. There's a level of finish present in that cabin that leaves very little to be desired. Just look at those seats!

But from the style point of view, this car is a failure right out of the gate. I really didn't think Audi would be capable of biffing it like they have with this car, but alas, they've fallen victim to what appears to be a lack of direciton.

For shame. This car is a guaranteed soft-contender to the 3er coupe and CLK in North America. Lucky me... maybe I'll swoop on one once the dealers start offering deep incentives.

*Editors note - I've been known to eat my own words like I was at the Humble Pie Buffet. There's always the outside chance that I'll warm up to the car once it hits the streets. Either way - I still believe Audi has squandered the chance to make this car really count for the brand as a whole.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
