In all fairness it looks like they've just arrived, not been sitting there lol? The car just doesn't fit in with the current range. When the 190E, 300E, 560SEL etc all went 10 years the SL could go 10 years, but now it gets caught out of the current MB design language and caught out bad. I had nearly forgot about the SL. Tragic.

If they were all 2018's I'd say they're fresh off the boat, but being that they were mostly 2017's... they must've been sitting in storage at the nearby port while the dealership tried to move the units they had in inventory.

It seems like the SL has been lost in the wilderness for the last five years. I rarely hear or see anyone mention it. The next version needs to be flawless so people can fall in love with this once beautiful car again.

Just had an amazing experience with SL63 Pre-FL, my friend recently got 2015 model for a fairly low price with low mileage, the car is a monster and the driving experience is a joy, seats are comfortable and supportive(surprisingly with massage !!), almost everything in the car is excellent, however I didn't feel it is tank built (as I thought) in some areas, I can hear some squeaks from the area in the back between the two seats and from the front dashboard.

I would defiantly buy one specially with the current used SL prices, in Saudi you can get SL63 with less than 55,000 $ and low mileage.

Information is sparse. Sometime between mid/late 2019 and mid/late 2020 (official press reveal) perhaps. Were it not for the SLs' "brand equity", the introduction of a successor would be questionable.

Yup. There isn't really a market for convertibles like these anymore. I think its smart the next gen will likely be a 2+2.

Yeah I don't know what to say about the SL. It has been lost for a while. This is the car I should have bought back in the summer of 2012, but the design just didn't sit well with me. The facelift made it look better, but it looks like a person with an obvious facelift or having work done on them as people say. Brilliant driving car and built like a Mercedes should be (vs the previous car), but those long over hangs just killed the svelteness that you buy a roadster for.

Truth be known, the roadster market is just not what it once was. If you compare cost today versus the mid 90s, it's cheaper to drive an SL today than ever before. But, people just aren't buying roadsters, particularly high end, like they did years ago.
Add to that the disappointing, heavy styling and it's no surprise that sales are in the tank. I question how much MB will invest in a replacement.

It's time to reimagine the SL, and I think that may happen since the rumors say it will be a 2+2 for a replacement of the current SL and S Cabrio. I don't wanna see that, but I get it.

Indeed. Silver Star is like a used car dealership compared to MB Manhattan in terms of how the take care of their inventory. Whatever it is they'll park on on the street, doors unlocked for long periods of time.

On top of that they love doing price markups, which doesn't exist at factory-owned MB Manhattan.

It seriously baffles me as to why anyone uses that dealership. I found the Silver Star salespeople to be rude. MB of Manhattan is such an experience in comparison.

Took in our ML there years ago when it wouldn't start, they didn't call me or answer my calls regarding the diagnosis.

They also didn't bother to call me back when I was shopping for an E43.

Where as MB of Manhattan (old location) called me for updates during a routine service. Not to mention they chauffeured me to work since I didn't need a loaner.

Queens customer service for ya.

Don't get me wrong Queens is great, but second to Brooklyn, businesses there tend to have little conception of courtesy and patience. In addition being completely out of the way (off the dreadful Belt Pkwy), MB Brooklyn is likely even worse.

Not unsimilar to FoMoCos' strategy with its' Thunderbird as of the 1958 MY.

The next generation SL must have a exterior design in the class of Jaguar F type or Aston DB. The current car is just too ordinary in comparison.

Styling alone won't do it though, as F-type sales have proved.
