Well...Figured we needed a new bashing thread for hateful cars we all despise...Keep 'em coming boys, I'm curious as to what people really think

I think that Top Gear special from 2012 would go perfectly right now (sadly, cannot seem to find any link)

I'm amazed that after 2 weeks, no one seems to post their opinion on what they believe are the worst cars out there...Well, I'll start with my personal Top 20, in no particular order

Lada VAZ-2101
AMC Gremlin
Ford Pinto
Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible
Cadillac Cimarron
Chevy Vega
Chevy Corvair
Pontiac Aztek
Maserati Biturbo
Lexus SC430
DeLorean DMC 12 (yes, despite how much I love the design, hence my avatar)
Lincoln Continental Mark IV
Chrysler K-Car
AMC Pacer
Yugo GV1
The Trabant
Peel Trident
Reliant Robin
Plymouth Prowler
Triumph Stag

Unlike most people, I find the subject of "awful cars" just as appealing as "great cars"...Makes for great entertainment, as long as you don't drive them I suppose

The early 1970s' Alfa Sud and Alfettas would disintegrate into rustdust before ones' very eyes.

But I absolutely loved them !

Oh especially that Alfasud..Proved that simplicity can be beautiful as well, and handled like a dream (even though it was a FWD). But yeah, Italian cars, especially in the 70's, were as long-lasting as a senior person's "state of excitement"

You may want to add the Austin Allegro and the Morris Marina to that list, frequently top of the list when it comes to lemons...

Hehe, never knew this even existed
Bricklin SV1
The Bricklin SV1 car, which debuted in 1975, is a like a bad DeLorean DMC-12 but without a cool movie like Back to the Future to redeem its reputation. Designed as a “car of the future” by smooth-talking businessman Malcolm Bricklin, the SV1s most distinguishing feature was its 100-pound gullwing doors similar to those featured on the DeLorean. Billed at auto shows as “a safer car of the future,” the acronym SV1 actually stands for “Safety Vehicle 1.” However safety doesn’t seem to mesh with this vehicle’s body, which was made entirely out of plastic – the same type of plastic found in Playschool furniture situated in Kindergarten classes everywhere. Other safety features included compressible bumpers and the removal of both a lighter and ashtrays from the car’s interior. Unfortunately this car, plastic and all, proved to be extremely heavy and the weight limited the V8 engine’s performance. In the end, fewer than 3,000 Bricklin SV1s were made, and today the car remains a curiosity among some automotive collectors.

FIATs' 132 comes to mind. However, I rather liked the 131 "Mirafiori"-especially the Abarth-prepared rallye versions.

Opels' mid-1980s' Kadett E was a notorious rustcrate. Early M-B W210 E-Class cars and pre-facelift W203 C-Class cars are remnants of that very dark "Schrempp Era". As are pre-MOPF W220 S-Class models. Chryslers' K-Cars were quite diabolical.

My uncle had one of those when I was 7-8 years old, I actually liked them, but no denying they were awful cars

Creme de la creme stuff right there!

Nice looking and the V6 sounds nice, but it was uncomfortable, unreliable and boring to drive.

Americans should be familiar with this car because it was sold in the USA as the Saturn L-Series.

Anyway, the 1995-2002 Vectra looked good on the outside, but it had a cheaply made interior with sharp edged plastics, the seats were hard and lacked lateral support and you always would hit your elbow on the centre armrest, the window switches were inconveniently placed around the gear lever, the steering was only height adjustable and the mirrors were just too small. To add insult to injury the windows would mist up very easily and air-conditioning was not available in the entry level version and it was an optional in the middle versions.

Despite having sub-frames and a multi-link rear independent suspension, the Vectra had a bouncy ride, it understeered very easily, the steering lacked feedback and had a poor turning circle. The gearbox was supposedly geared towards fuel economy, so the ratios were ridiculously long and that meant that all the performance potential was pretty much wasted and yet the fuel economy wasn't all that great either.

So for a car that was supposed to be driven by travelling sales reps, the lack of comfort was shocking and so was the poor reliability and the fuel economy. Shame, because it looked really good on the outside.

LOL ! I actually quite liked Renaults' Fuego when it was first introduced circa 1982.

The 2004 Daihatsu Cuore. The entry level 980cc version somes with a terrible electric steering, no electric windows, no central locking, no front anti-roll bar and no sense of being inside a car.

Considering I used to drive a Yugo 45 for a short period of time as an undergraduate student, this is -by far- the worst car I've ever driven.

As a matter of fact I do have one right now, and I'll get to keep in until June. Despite the fact that it doesn't belong to me and its costs and fuel (up to a point) are paid, I've only used it once in the last 20 days. It's that terrible!

Five years before testing the Vectra, Clarkson had to test the truly awful Ford Escort Mk5, a car whose stabiliser bar had the nasty habit of coming loose... The rear suspension would sag if the boot was loaded.
