Vs Top Gear M3 vs C63 vs RS4

I know what Sunny said. Im just "strengthen" his words/message ;)

We should translate this board to Swedish! In that way we would not get these misunderstandings and everyone not writing Swedish would have a great reason to learn how to... :D

The segment on the RS4/C63 and M3 was great, however I wish it would have lasted the entire hour. :-)

Regarding the tyre eating C63... I really think we need to be aware that Clarkson is a great entertainer, and his driving skills are not on par. To really make any conclusions on this would be a bit hasty, you would also need to check what kind of tyres the C63 and M3 were running on.

Top Gear is pure entertainment, with a lot of humor. Hell, even people who don't like cars like Top Gear. For a more technical (handling etc) view on the car I'd rather turn to 5th gear, and more specifically Tiff Needell/Jason Plato.

I would personally go for the RS4, although it's showing it's age. However it's the only car I've driven from the tested cars, so that is influencing my tast :-)

Like him or dislike him, there's no denying that Clarkson is the most astute and gifted motoring scribe ever. Period. Sure, some journos are better drivers (believe me if most of us could drive like Jeremy - we'd be well pleased) and others more scientifically objective but none have risen to such public prominence as Clarkson.

His writing is of the highest order and I seldom find a reason to disagree with his opinion outright. It's thanks to Clarkson that programs like 5th Gear ever came about.

Now, on to another matter, is anyone here at all surprised that the C63 lights up its tyres the way it does? Erm, what did you expect from a compact saloon that puts 600 Nm (at least! assuming 1:1 gearing...) through one axle? Sometimes you can have too much...

Even if the M3 has the better ride? Only thing favoring the C63 as a better daily driver is the automatic but even that is valid only if one is a lazy driver and prefers automatic transmissions.

Only the automatic?! how about a bigger spacious int even bigger than the M3 sedan, bigger trunk, optional sunroof if u gotta have one, practility of a four door sedan and a massive power to smoke any M3 at any level of motoring...all that makes the C63 far more practical machine than the M3,as JC said the only think goin for the M3 is the better handling around the track and that is even questionalble on bigger high speed circuits;)

Btw any ideas why the M3 sedan is not on sale yet?

Good, points!

You can actually have a sunroof for the M3 too if you should want that. Both are small cars and I do not think cabin space will be a big deciding point between them.

Regarding the M3 sedan I think its because BMW does not want to release all new cars at the same time, and if you think about it, that is probably a wise thing. The M3 is first of all a coupé...

the size differences between C-class and E90 4-door arent huge, thats just a weak sale reason for picking either of thise performance cars. If you want a big car buy yourself a E-class or 5er. ;)
and M3 E92 vs M3 E90, I pick the Coupe, a real performance cars should be 2 doors.

Dont listen to much on Clarkson before you buy a car, make your own opinion, thats my advice ;)

Lol of course i don't listen to JC all the time but this time i think he is right, not all guys are like you Andreas who just want a fast sporty coupe, some with families or travel alot with occupants so they would need the extra space in the cabin and in the trunk:)

you know my name, what's yours? :)

That's me :D

:t-cheers:

I actually remember you also.

Back to the topic in hand here, I was quite shocked by how much better track car the M3 was compared to these sedans.

I still think the RS4 is the best overall car in this segment.

Also funny to see Clarkson bash BMW and a really funny skit he put on there.

It's always a pleasure to hear when someone change their mind about a car once they have had the chance to explore a car for some time.
And cudos goes to people that are honest and admit they were wrong about something. So creds to Clarkson and the May dude.

Makes you wonder how many here on this board would be honest after a testdrive and saying, "I were wrong , this car is the better car than the other one I claimed was the best". Reading reviews and looking at numbers is nothing compare to your own feelings and a real-life experience. A own real-life experience tells you much more and is way more important than a text on a piece of paper.

It certainly does seem that the M3 is the faster car on track, and congratulations to it.

However which car did clarkson say he'd have???? I think you'll find it was the C63..........so speed around a track doesnt make the most appealing car.

Still glad im getting the C63.

Doesnt matter what he choices, he is just a guy from Great Britain. He was honest and said the M3 was the best car and therefore kudos to him.

He also admitted he was weird. ;)
And it wasn't the M3's speed around the track that makes it the most appealing.
