I actually saw the 7er on the showroom floor and sat inside, not too long after test-driving the 5 Series cars.
That was probably a mistake because the first thing that hit me was how close the designs are apart from a few tweaks This was a top-of-the-line 760i xDrive that was fully loaded and listed for a little more than $128,000USD. The cabin has a richness to it and the materials are top-notch like the 5er. The seats are probably some of the best I have ever sampled with great support and buttery soft leather you would not believe. The length of the new 7er is not what surprised me, it is the height of it. That aside, I can see why this car has a following. It is nice once you get to experience it IRL compared to looking at pictures.

The S-Class has a greater distinction from the E-Class than the 7er compared to the 5er but the BMWs have better quality interiors.

Today I had a nice encounter on the German Autobahn.
I was on my way, listening to Jazz, making a few phone calls, minding my own business until I noticed a BMW 7er G70 with Swiss numberplates driving in my slipstream. He held a polite distance.
For the next 60-70 kilometers we sort of teamed up and drove more or less the same speed, alternately taking the lead, getting some miles done in a speed range of 160-200 km/h, sometimes above. Shortly before I left that particular Autobahn, we drove next to each other, nodded with a smile and went our way.
That was a good example of a gentleman BMW driver and a Mercedes driver/myself getting along just fine. No internal combustion whatsoever 😉

I saw a triple black 740i and was amazed at its road presence. I have to go back to my dealer and drive one…

You decided to go electric?

;)

what is triple black?

Black exterior color, black rims and black interior. That's triple black for ya

Incredible road presence. Looks disgusting in pics, but pretty special in real life. Whereas an S class looks small and like a C class sized car between the SUVs and crossovers..

There's a lot to say about the current 7er, but I wouldn't want the next gen to be smaller in any way. The size is just right for a flagship German sedan. It stands out among anything.

Lol @Mick Briesgau has some back issues as he loves the thump in his back from his huge midrange diesel torque and is addictive to that diesel rattle.

The size of this 7 series is too big and it's going to look like a double decker bus soon if it's any higher. Maybe next 7 will be an SUV.
