Re: THE ACTUAL POLE (disregard that last one)

Given my observations of the various evaluations between these cars I can safely say that based on empirical evidence the M6 and Carrera S are different enough for neither to hold an outright advantage over the other and that Vantage has not achieved its design intent of vanquishing (play on words geddit, geddit?!?) the 911 as the king of sports cars.

Aston Martin makes great looking cars, but all cars they make lack balls and are made for female drivers in my humble opinion. So, the Aston is a no-no for me.

The 911 is a true sports car, but severely lacks space and more importantly, some level of comfort. The ride is very, very harsh and direct.

The M6 can be seen as an sporty Gran Turismo next to the 911, but it has awesome looks, the best and most powerful engine/transmission, luxury, tons of space and is way more rare.

My vote goes to the M6 here.

Sweet mercy, do I have to explain everything I say these days.

Not to me you don't

Oh Lord, that's hilarious, good ol' klier humour to the fore...

Yes, the ride is harder than an M6 but it's not as hard as "very very harsh"...
To some though that's an essential characteristic of a sports car in any event. Like you say the 911 is a true sports car.

I agree completely and therefore M6 <> 911.

And justifiably so. I'd take a 911 over an M6 though in much the same way.

Thanks dude. Good thing you're such a clever fella... unlike some tonsils I know. Just kidding, just kidding! ;) :D

Well I changed cars with a buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago (996 Targa for a week), and I was happy to step into my 6 again. A 645Ci feels like a Maybach after driving a 911 for a week.
I truly love the 911, but it would not be my primary car. I need a little bit more luxury next to the sport. The BMW is perfect for what I need, and an M6 is even better than perfect.

Well then you're certainly better exposed than I am - I've yet to drive a recent model 911. Then again, I don't mind the ride of an STi (I'm such a savage) so I doubt that a 911's going to disturb me in that department.

But klier dude, surely the M6 will ride much harder than your 645Ci? I'd be curious to hear your comments after first hand experience...

I've driven the M6 but not a 645Ci (weird huh?). I have no experience with 997 but I experienced 996 GT3 and Turbo.
They are very different compared to M6, the Porsches very noisy, almost felt like you drove a cabriolet :D , I could probably survive driving a 911 day after day (but I understand those who dont) but the M6 is a different car, so quiet, driving 200km/h felt like 100km/h, fast in a silent way, the seats probably most comfortable seats I've been in. In the Porsche, you're more connected in a Porsche, you can almost feel and hear everything.
IMO two very different cars, I wouldnt mind owning both a M6 and a 911 Turbo because thats how different they are.

Back to the poll now, I believe that the Veyron is an amazing piece of engineering. It makes a car like the Zonda F, which is an extremely special machine feel like it is much more banal if that makes sense.

Having said that, here are my votes, since I don't think that these cars belong in the same category.

Special: Veyron
Very sporty :): 911
Sport: M5
Everyday car: 3er

I have a friend with an STI too (love that car, very fast and cool to drive for the $$), and Dyna-niet has ordered an M6 I will surely drive soon enough :D
But yeah, comfort in a 645Ci should be better than in an M6, although I do not think it will differ all that much - it still is the same car...

I thought i made it 3 weeks but you never know with these things. I think personally I would get a cerrara S over an M6 just because its better looking and faster and quicker as well. I love the M6 and the M5 but the 6er looks awkward in some angles. I just think the ultimate set up would be the Cerrara S and then the M5, and forgo the M6. I love the 6er though and maybe if you cant have both the M5 and the Porsche maybe the M6 is a good in between substitute for both...

The S-Class sure has a lot of fans. No matter what thay say about the S
it`s a very successful automobile. Just look at the poll results.

Yes - and I would choose the S class - if this was a poll about which car we would most like to own - but it isn't, it's about which is the best car - and quite frankly I'm astounded at how ignorant so many people can be - the Veyron is indisputably the finest automobile the world has EVER seen.

Some of you really need to raise your heads out of the mediocrity of upper-middle class banality and learn to recognise true greatness when it is presented right in front of you.

The reason for some people not voting for the Veyron is that it ,despite it's atronomical horse power figure isn't a complete sportscar. It just offer 1001 and an incredible interior unlike the great F1 which offered both power and ground breaking handling.

Please explain what you mean by this reply.
LOL - actually, I was expecting something a little more insulting than that martinbo.

You guys might think I am a bit crazy, but the Veyron is an outstanding automobile - it is in a completely different league to the others on the list - it's pointless to compare them.

I cant vote on Veyron cause Bugatti lose money everytime a Veyron is being built. Its over the top. :)

Ok Luw, I get your stance and can identify with your perspective but I have to point out that the Veyron doesn't make the grade of "complete sportscar" because its not that at all. In fact the Veyron goes beyond even the concept of supercar because its more than that. So it weighs two tons and subjectively doesn't suit circuit racing... so what. It does 400 km/h. It does 0 to 100 to 200 to 300 and beyond faster than anything we've ever seen on the road. This is the new definition of thrust. Now, all of that in a super luxurious, rock-solid stable package that doesn't come close to breaking a sweat where all the other supercars are nearing their maximum. It can negotiate a fast Autobahn sweep at 350 km/h where Enzos, CGTs and Zondas would be pushing pistons through the block and scampering all over the show.

Is it as well rounded as a Macca F1? Of course not, but that's an entirely different story and an F1 can't come close to producing the ballistic figures of a Veyron nor in the way that a Veyron does.

Nothing can.
