wow, lol, sorry for the thrash talk - but after all that build up, the RS5 got freaking owned.

And to add insult to injury, "Sport Auto even liked the ride in the M3 (EDC) more than Audi's adaptive suspension. On top, the M3 testcar was roughly 10k € cheaper."

So in jist, if you want to spend 10k more on a slower car that is less fun and less comfortable, Audi has you covered.

And here comes footie with excuses...

220KG more and power sapping quattro drivetrain. Stupid engine choice in such a heavy car. Should have stuck in a 450hp turbo engine with 450lbft of torque to match.

Prefer RS5's looks for all you want, but the difference in performance is far from negligible. Half a sec at 200kmph is huge - almost 100 feet. So is a sec around a short track like that - for comparison, it is more than the difference between Hamilton's Mclaren in pole and Adrian Sutil's Force India in the ninth or tenth at Montreal GP qualifying. And all this for a not so insignificant amount of more money.

Very much expected. The RS5 is a locomotive while the M3 is a speed boat. Status unchanged -- M3 still reign.

Took you a couple of years to make this thing, and you charge an OUTRAGEOUS price..
And you had all the time to benchmark it against the M3 and THIS is what you come up with?
The M3 wich has been around for like 3 years and cost LESS than the RS4 ( dont even need to mention the RS5)..

Especially when you advertise yourself as a threath to BMW..

Im sorry even though it looks a shitload better than the M3..that alone can not justify the price and performance gap..

Such a ridiculous time, it is more like an E46 time than an E92.
They clocked 4.8s with E92 6-speed.

Even 0-200km/h is slow.E92 6-speed can clock 15.7s
How come DKG is slower than 6-speed???

that's quite a fail for the RS5. can argue that 1.1s slower on the track doesn't mean much, but it just shows the M3's superiority against something that is supposed to be superior.

Expecting a lot - but not such bad times for the RS5 (especially 80 - 180 in 7th gear!!)…that's quite a bad loss for the Quattro GmbH. Will be interesting to see how the M3 vs. RS5 discussion will go on…

Haha, considering Footie probably canceled his internet subscription and disappeared, I doubt there will be much to discus. Just kidding, I am sure there will be other tests that will probably show the RS5 in better light.

But, as for roll on acceleration figures, it is horrendous, forget M3, even mundane 335s will humiliate it. If you are in a RS5 on a freeway, better be ready to drop all the way down to 3rd at the first sign of anything this side of a golf GTI. And all this to get better gar mileage which it anyway fails to get (at least in real world).

Gear ratios are ruin the performance of the RS5.

Btw.: The M6 did 80-160 km/h in 7th gear in 17,9 s. The M3 did in 16,3 s. Wow!

Interesting to see that the 335i has at lower speeds better acceleration data then M3…maybe there were better weather conditions etc…
