I don't know last time I looked tanks seem to be able to go just about anywhere and they weigh tonnes...... literally. LOL

1. This -

Do you realize the continous/caterpillar track spreads weight and traction into a much, much larger area, compared to 4 tires?

Any tracked vehicle has huge advantage when it comes to contact patch and ground pressure.

2. It is a popular misconception that tanks can go where ever. They excel at certain types of terrain, but suck at others - like hilly areas.

^Sunny, is this not more to do with length and width of the vehicle rather than the fact it using a caterpillar track?

What is more to do with length and width? the ground pressure? No, what use it length and width, if all the weight is still concentrated on 4/6 tire contact patches.

Sorry for sounding so stupid but I don't get what you meant by suck on hilly areas.

I thought this might have been to do with their length and width due to grounding on their belly, is that opinion wrong?

it was a tough choice between the x5 and rrs , e53 x5 was my favourite, this time around its the rrs sport that i vote for, big like.

1. Range Rover Sport – Out of all the choices in this poll, this SUV stands out the most. It stands out and really is a pleasure to look at IMO. I love the interior and how clean yet simple it looks. The power and luxury exceed my expectations.
2. BMW X5 – So fresh and clean IMO. I love the new interior and the macho exterior. My only issue is the rear, but it’s not a deal breaker.
3. Cayenne – I love the sleeker look compared to the previous model. The interior is creative and the exterior is very smooth.
4. ML – I couldn’t see myself buying one when the GL is available. Still has that “Well it could be a minivan” look to it that I just don’t like. Plus the Navigation screen needs to be larger. It’s still a great SUV IMO, but I would probably need the AMG version to be happy.
5. MDX – I KNOW…I KNOW, but I have a soft spot for Honda/Acura.
6. QX60 (JX) – I love infiniti, but it has that Soccer mom feel to it. I would prefer the FX to it in a heartbeat.
7. Q7 – I rather the Q5. The Q7 just seems so long plus I would prefer to wait for the new model.
8. RX – I just mentioned it because it’s in the poll. Not really feeling it at all, but I know it’s a great ride for those who have it.

And the VW Touareg?

and the Jeep Grand Cherokee, both should be there ahead of the Japanese toys. The Cherokee is good looking and a great offroad performer, and Touareg is better looking than the Cayenne and doesn't drive to badly either, in fact it's probably not that much different from the Cayenne if you buy it with the R-Line package.

From the poll I would pick the RR Sport, it's a superb looking car, followed by the Cayenne, ML, X5 and Q7.

Iwas stuck in traffic about an hour ago, next to a Grand Cherokee and thinking in this thread :P My choice will be the GC, I think it looks fantastic!

^Well at least the X5 almost won. Either way I wouldn't mind owning any of them (well except for the RX).

Gimme that Rangie Sport in SDV6! Hell yes, that'll work for my lifestyle needs.

^

Not an option in the states, at least not yet. Too bad, I have a feeling the petrol 6 will be underpowered and the supercharged 8 will get about 6 miles to the gallon.

The V6 does feel slow and laboring. I recently test drove the new RR Sport. They however didn't have a V8 on hand to drive.
