Fit and finish of the G11 interior is at least one class below that of the W222. G11 quality can better be compared to W213.

I completely agree. I was actually surprised at some of the surfaces in a friend's 750i, but overall the interior quality is good. IMO it's in the middle of the Cadillac CT6 and the W222 S-Class although the W222 S-Class does look ,and more importantly feel, a class above though.

Exactly my thought after the back to back comparo at the auto show.
The S-Class definitely stood out more on the overall quality of feel. You just know its there without
thinking twice about it or trying to make assessments on which feels best.

IMO based on the G11s that I see in my area, I'm not to wowed by the exterior design, maybe because I haven't see one with the M package yet but so far based on those i have seen (740ii, 750i) I'd say the G11 doesn't have as much of a remarkable presence on the road as the S class

As part of my test review and shoot I was having new 7er for last couple of days. It has improved miles away from out gone models. Compared to S class its loaded with more gadgets & techs. Interior quality and finish also improved a lot. What I loved most is the improvement on suspension, ride quality & comfort as well as the reduction NVH level and overall improvement on refinement level. Having said all this, it is still a step behind S class when it come to ultimate feel of luxury, refinement, ride, comfort, quality, class a part feel & over all design - inetrior & exterior.

Well i think this post needs to be in the official 7er thread or the 7 ser reviews thread.

Obviously its very subjective as to what person likes what cars interior, but looking at the market they are aimed at (upper class luxury/chauffeur driven) the S-class does appear to have the more luxurious and comfortable interior. I have sat in both S-class and 7-series models and each car has things that delight the passengers and driver. The build quality on both cars is truly superb, but the S-class does look the more expensive car inside, it has better quality feel on the door panels especially, the speaker grills and the lower door panels/bins. The BMW has great ventilation controls, I really liked the touch switches which highlight a digital graphic on the ventilation screen display. The instrument displays on both cars are the best in the business with regards to info shown and graphics, but I liked the looks of the S-class instruments and center display but the 7-series has fantastic touch operation and I-drive is a little easier to operate. The S-class as slightly more comfortable back seats due to the really soft headrests and contour/angle of the backrest. The 7-series has a great rear touch screen but only thing is possibility of the screen getting misplaced if its not properly latched into the armrest. The 7-series though has a look of an upmarket 3-series as its center console has a similar look and shape to that of the 3-series but with more upmarket materials, so this is where I think it falls behind the S-class, as the Benz interior looks much more expensive like its competing with a RR or Bentley for half the price.

Yeah, too bad it's not an S-Class (y)

It has been awhile since we have seen anything of substance. Wolfgang do you have any new updates on the facelift?

Isn't the facelifted s550 supposed to feature the in line 6 engine with the same amount of hp

No. If anything they will swap out the 4.7L for the 4.0L V8 as they have done in some S500 markets.
