I guess it good is for you to start a new thread... Perhaps we will get 2 really conflicting viewpoints, like what happened on an aviation forum. :)

It's called fashion. Simply the latest trend. ;) IMO I like it much more than what M-B and BMW alike used before.(y)

Here is a link with some phitos taken at that accident. The photo with the undamaged car is taken by me.
Now back on topic: the new photos of the interior are awesome. I am sure this is my new favourite interior. Go to sleep A8 !!

It would be nice if the screens could fold safely away into the back of the front seats when not in use.

Screens are getting bigger nowadays, but I liked much better the way the back seat screens integrated into the back of the front Headrests. At least, they could have found a way to incorporate them lower, in the back of the seat. I hope the screens are removable (and thus handheld), but I would bet there the mounting point then remains exposed like an eye sore. Again, a back of seat integration would have made for a nice docking area for the screens when not handheld. Nonetheless, I think such a design would have interfered with what I believe will be some kind of rear-tray implementation.

All this is an academic exercise. I see the rear screens as gadgetry that I think I would be forced to forego when pricing my S550 sometime in the future (as I would do with most of the rear-seat options). There is simply too little use of it (perhaps 5% of the time).

the interior looks good even without the designo package though it doesnt look us uber upscale it still looks plush and luxurious

Didnt notice but steering wheel has that Mercedes Benz badge seen previously on concept cars.
I love that font, so classy:)

Great shot of the interior, very upscale... even more so than the W221 S-Class. So far, appears to be right on par with the 2014 Bentley Flying Spur (and the Rolls Ghost) from a design stand point.
It`s even more upscale than the Maybach imo.
