6 Series (F12/F13/F06) [Spyshots] F12/F13 BMW 6er (Spy Pics, Info & Impressions)


The BMW F12/F13/F06 is the third generation 6 Series produced and sold from 2011 to 2018. The body styles of the range are a 2-door convertible (F12), 2-door coupé (F13), and a 4-door sedan (F06, marketed as "Gran Coupé").

Wow this is awesome! Definitely did not expect that but it's very nice to see prototypes driving around already. The E63 is one of my favorite BMW's right now and I can't wait to see this one. :eusa_pray

I've never heard of globalmotors.net until they showed up on the Z4 thread. Are they new?

I don't get it either....this looks alomost FEP, but I think there are fake body panels even below the mindbending tape. Impossible that this is FEP, the car is covered up to almost look like the current model 6er. 6er is after 5er, and 5er has some time to go before FEP.

Nevertheless, first ever shots! Karma indeed :bowdown::bowdown:

This make sense with what EnI said, a very evolutionary design. I can only see door handles on shoulder line, and lines that are similar to the current car.

This is the biggest coupe of BMW for the moment, may be on this we can see a bigger influence of the CS Concept.

Good point. What's up with the rag top? I would kind of expect the 6er to have a folding hard top maybe?

I think it´s just a bad disguise. Also the rear seems to have a bad disguise, making it bloated.

As always, I think the apereance of the car will be much sleeker than this mule.

This is not a FEP!

Mind BMW now use this camo also in the pre-FEP phases (mind X3 & X1).
There are is still a heavy plastic cladding behind this psychedelic tape.

This is just a beginning of public testings ... as it was announced a while ago (expected spy pics in the end of 2008).

Quite right, but the first mules of the E63 were so much more radical....but I guess that was because they desperately wanted to hide the Bangle Butt back then.

One thing's for sure, I see fake body panels below the tape.

Mind initial prototypes of E92 3er cabrio, and E89 Z4 roadster also featured rag tops. :usa7uh:

Not at all. My sources have always claimed hardtop for E92 & E98.
It was someone else already doing the "shots of rag top E92 & E89". :D:usa7uh:
I guess BMW made them just for someone's private photo shooting. :D:D:D

Ah Good! Some one caught them on the streets .
Wait till you see the Coupe. A very evolutionary approach to the next generation car.

The current car has been successful for BMW and there is nothing considerably drastic about the replacement model.
What we do now is before the camouflage is applied to distort the viewers vision or indeed the photographers. Is we apply very thin sheets of injected plastic to the body panels to distort the actual lines of the car.
The rear of the car is very akin to the current car but not as 3-dimensional a bit like how the new 7er rear is resolved when you see the character line disolve into the rear lights there is something similar but more sleek and dynamic looking used for the 6er.

As regarding the hardtop. We test and develop both solutions just like the 3er and the Z4 in fact BMW still have Z4 models with soft-Tops in the Z-Studio. But this idea and indeed the soft-top design is expected to be accomodated in the Z2 as the folding mechanism is extremly compact and lightweight with very good structural capability.

World-wide debut is planned for Frankfurt 2011. But even today the E63 and E64 still have that stop-and-look presence. It is a car that has aged well and as Adrian Van Hooydunk said on the launch of the 6er it's intention was to be perceived as a modern classic BMW.

The rear of the current 6er is just brilliant, is the front, particulary the headlights the part that dislikes me the most. And looking the spy pics of the F13, the problem with the front seems to be resolved, more agressive front lights, and big kidney grille ala CS without the moustache I hope.

I was expecting you saying that the rear lights would be something more L-Shape, more CS as well. Just because the rear lights of the current 6er are almost exactly to the outer part of E65 rear lights. So a rear lights with the design style of the CS would fit in the car pretty well in my opinion.

^ Yeah, I thought so too when I first saw the pics. But there really is a lot of camo on the car. Fake body panels everywhere below that tape.
