F12 [2012-2017] Spyshots: Mystery Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Caught Testing

The Ferrari F12berlinetta (Type F152) is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer produced by Italian automobile manufacturer Ferrari. The F12berlinetta debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and replaced the 599 grand tourer. The F12berlinetta was replaced by the 812 Superfast in early 2017.

A mysterious camouflaged Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was recently spied testing and reports suggest that it could be the prototype for either a GTO, Stradale, HGTE or more likely, a convertible version of the Italian supercar.
The car was spotted testing in Italy and features additional horizontal slits next to the taillights which are not present on the current production model. These could be there to make up for the other air vents being blocked off by camouflage, or they could indicate an uprated variant of the Ferrari’s V12 engine.
In base form the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta produces 740hp from its 6.2-liter V12 engine. Add to that a peak torque output of 509lb-ft and it comes as no surprise that the rear-wheel drive supercar can sprint to 100km/h in just 3.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 340km/h.
Although still possible, it’s extremely unlikely Ferrari will build a GTO variant of the F12 Berlinetta so early on in its production run meaning it’s far more likely to be a convertible or HGTE prototype.

Remember the mysterious Ferrari F12 Berlinetta spied testing a couple of weeks ago? Well, according to the latest rumors, that car could have in fact been a disguise for the 2015 Ferrari California because after all, it is a little bit early for additional variants of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta to be produced.
If this was the case then Ferrari had all of us fooled as we originally thought it was a convertible version of the F12 Berlinetta.
The 2015 Ferrari California has been spied testing as far back as 2011 and is speculated to receive a twin-turbo V8 engine with a power output between the 562hp of the Ferrari 458 Italia and the near 600hp expected output of the Ferrari 458 Monte Carlo.
The new Ferrari California will likely receive similar styling cues to the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and is expected to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show 2014 next year.

If this turns out to be the case, then the 2015 Ferrari California is likely to hit dealerships in mid-2014.
