8 Series [Spyshots] BMW’s 8-Series Gran Coupe Makes Its Spy Debut

The BMW 8 Series is a range of grand tourer coupes and convertibles produced by BMW. The 8 Series was introduced in 1990 under the E31 model code and was only available as a two-door coupé. The E31 was discontinued in 1999 due to poor sales. The model range was later reintroduced in 2018 with the second generation, G15 8 Series. It launched in coupé (G15), convertible (G14), and four-door Gran Coupé (G16) body styles, as the successor to the F06/F12/F13 6 Series lineup.

Am I just imagining that this may be the M8 Gran Coupe ? The trunklid may be an indication.

I like what they did with the trunk, the same as the concept, (I remember everyone complained about that), but now everyone seems to like it, it is also good because it differs from the coupe, the prize is that it is like the e46 CSL, excellent detail

Speaking of this leak, they are more and more professional every time, showing the car front, rear, wheels, key and with the engine on, it makes us listen as it sounds, the next ones will even include a test drive ... "Leak Review"

Most excellent observation my friend. I posted the very same shot somewhere else and it didn't even register with me. I surely thought about the coupe only.

Shooting the M8 Gran Coupe media campaign in South Africa.

Heads are going to roll. Yet again. BMW can't catch a break, and I almost feel sorry.

BMW has never been more leak in it's history, despite them trying so hard keeping the seams closed and waterproof. Moreso than other big OEM brands.

...But it isn't, because the color needs to bear a circuit city name.

Maybe some new M specific color, but the Individual colors don't wear circuit names and this example sure is Individual...

wtf is up with that rear door, or more exactly the last quarter of the window, is this some new kind of hoffmeister deal.. it just looks chopped off...

reminds me of a car... i can't remember.. but is it a Maserati or an Alfa..its one of them.

Yes, but as far as I know all new M models are launched in a (new or already existing) paint that wears the name of a city where some sort of motorsports circuit exists. The same seems to go for M Sport-specific colors (e.g. Estoril Blue, Le Mans Blue... Carbon Black being a prominent exception).

Some of these M paint colors eventually make their way to regular non-M and even non-M Sport versions (e.g. E92 M3 launched in Melbourne Red, which was then made available even on the regular non-M Sport F30 3/4 Series; maybe the two blues named above followed the same principle?), and/or eventually join the Individual color palette and become available on special (expensive) order for pretty much any model (apart from quite severe restrictions e.g. on the M2).

So if this indeed is the launch color, it might well end up in the huge Individual-branded paint collection eventually, but it must have a circuit name by definition.

Unfortunately when the cars are in transit and waiting in customs at airports they are fair game.
Cars are secured but they always unwrapped by inquisitive workers and staff as we can see here.

No heads are rolling :) Just saying.

It's the cargo handlers on the hook for this one and any other leak which comes from an Airport such as the M135i xDrive -which reminds me its this weekend folks but could leak earlier. As such is life.

The rear door side glass graphic is similar to that of Maseratis' Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans.

Many a Comment made today when they showed the car in Italy. That many commented on its Italian roots and execution of style. Maserati comparisons were made. You could actually photoshop a Maserati Grille to the front and would not be that far off.

a press accidentally leaked several beauty shots of the gran coupe...
hint: a Singaporean website
a total of 7 pictures I think...if anyone is interested they will easily find it
it was cached by google images. the website itself though was already removed.

in my best Denzel Washington voice: "My man!"

Best looking 4-door BMW since the 6GC, and dare I say, even better. Really dig the 2-tone Individual interior. The hits keep on coming with these new BMWs.

Coupe Vs. Gran Coupe :
20190612_161334.webp

Ah...It's been a good two days at GCF. First the new Bentley Flying Spur...and now...The 8er Gran Coupe.

yey, again m-sport on the promo car. at least the more elegante gran coupe version should be showen in standard trim...

The rear haunches appear more precisely penned versus the 8er two doors. The more pronounced crease reduces visual mass and benefits the aesthetic quite significantly.

Really a hot and busy month for BMW. After the new 1 Series, X1 LCI, M8 models and the new 3 Series Touring, THE 8 Gran Coupe is icing on the cake. Looking forward to more official pics. It looks sensational at the moment, though I would have preferred to see some more BMW Individual treatment, like a special exterior paint colour, the Individual wheels and the rather iconic ivory white/tartufo combination instead of ivory white/navy blue.

THE X6 (G06) should come next.
