5 Series (F10/F11/F07/F18) [Spyshots] BMW 5 Series F10 Facelift Spy Information

The BMW F10/F11/F07/F18 is the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series, manufactured for model years 2010–2017. The body styles of the range are: 4-door sedan/saloon (F10), 5-door estate/wagon (F11, marketed as "Touring"), 5-door fastback (F07, marketed as "Gran Turismo"), and 4-door long wheelbase sedan (F18, sold only in China and the Middle East). Production: 2010–2017
The other day I saw a post where EnI was saying BMW was putting some spice on this LCI.

Was I? LOL :D

Compared to the E-class facelift - (which was more like a total reconstruction of a persona ... something eg. used in the most extreme scenarios of witness protection programs ... something eg. seen on E65 LCI) - the 5er F10 facelift will indeed be very mild. A nip/tuck here & there to freshen up the already good looking & successful model. To better fight the aging.

Some aggressiveness will be added ... the bumpers, air intakes, and especially the nose (area around the grille & the headlights), headlight graphics etc. Current F10 looks more tame & understated compared to the LCI version.

Just like in the W212 case the F10 LCI will add some sportiness ... not only in the looks department but also eg. when it comes to steering, performance, braking etc. And the ride will be further refined ... Character changes in the F01 7er LCI style yet more in suitable to F10 (meaning: still more agile & athletic than F01).

The interior is almost the same. Some new materials here & there, some ergonomic improvements etc. OK, some new features will be added to ... But nothing drastic.

There's far less drama in this LCI then it was eg in E65 7er or lately in E-class W121 LCI case.

The 5er is selling like hot cakes. Especially the sedan, touring too ... and the interest in GT have also picked up since the introduction of (much cheaper & economical) 520d GT.
No need for a dramatic change with the LCI (although there are some slight butt-lift going on in the GT case indeed).
Just slight but noticeable improvements to stay on top in the 2nd half of the life-cycle as well.

Very interesting year for BMW: 3er GT, 5er LCI, X5, M3, 4er Coupe, i3, 2er Coupe, Active Tourer (not necessarily in this order!)

Btw, expect the spy photos of X4 prototypes to appear in the next weeks. And I'm hearing another car is going FEP ... Active Tourer most likely, I guess.

I simply can't wait! 2012 went by faster than a speeding bullet, seems like 2013's going to be a long year courtesy of BMW :D + Edit: talkiing about spoiled for choice!

When you have to wait for and still decide what your next Beemer's going to be whilst at the same time it has to be launched, presented and then still reach our shores and dealers! My goodness!:(

If its this year then it will intro as 2014 model year. So 5er LCI will be after 3 years as against 4 years. I will wait to buy one.

Yes the 5er LCI will premiere at the IAA in September following its launch in the summer. It will be one premiere alongside the new X5 and the production i3 and M3.

In the meantime we can count within a month on our fingers to the premiere of the BMW 3er Gran Turismo prior to its Geneva premiere. Europeans will be able to see the BMW 4er Coupe Concept in Geneva for the first time. We know about the Wraith for Rolls-Royce but for fans of the MINI brand their will be something special for those that were expecting more than a JCW Paceman at the NAIAS as they begin to sound the siren for the imminent MINI F56 which will premiere at the IAA after a launch in the summer.

THe BMW twin of the F56 will be seen very, very soon.

Youl need to get the 2er going my dear Scott, for there has been born a compact 4 door Benz rescently that could make your life hell this year;):(

The 2er will be worth the wait if you are in the market for one. It's very 2002 ish , my only regret is that the rejected the circular rear lights that would have been unusual but awesome at the same time. Now they are classic L-shape mixing the E82, 4er and the angle they wrap around the rear wings is very like the E46.

Scott, are you saying that the 5er LCI will get a 2015 model year release in the U.S then? Or will it be out here for the 2014 model year (i.e making its debut on U.S dealer lots within 6-7 months from now)?

Around when will the 2er be shown?

I don't conform to that American type of model designation of one year ahead so in Europe at least the car will be launched in 2013 as a 2014 model, which I would make that 2015 for the US? I expect it to be on sale in Germany at least on , around or immediately after the IAA. Visually there is not much to look at except for a quick nip and tuck but not too Kardashianly altered as the E-Klasse which has now lost its signature E-Klasse identity , there is some changes especially to change the feel of the steering and new power trains to keep the car at the top of the segment , latest ConnectedDrive and EfficientDynamic changes also feature. A new entry model is also coming for european customers.

Thanks. I guess it's up in the air right now. It seems some U.S guys are getting info from their Dealers that BMW said the 2014 model year would be the LCI, however that would mean they'd have to be on sale on ready on lots by July or August at the latest. Seems odd considering usually the 5er gets its LCI 4 years into the body style, not 3.

Yep, why do you think I switched to the 5er? :D Mercedes does Kardashian facelifts these days because they feel they need to, to keep their cars relevant. BMW will at least treat the identity, creation and timeless value of this F10 with respect, so they've earned mine!

BMWblog says that LCI 5er will be introduced in Summer of 2013.

Are we starting to see a trend where BMW's LCI's won't be as drastic as they once were? I mean, they have LED lights standard now.(Except the 3 series) Have we gotten to a point where it's going to just be minor tweaks of the bumper and mirrors and maybe some exterior colors and some new interior leather and that's that? The X3 has also had very minor updates just like the 5 LCI.
