Couldn't the 2-Series Gran Tourer/ Active Tourer be that asymmetrical hatchback thing that Scott was talking about a few months ago?

My M135i should be at the dealer any time soon, ready for pickup next week.
Please don't tell me it's going to be out of date before Xmas, hard enough parting with the 1M. :(

Scott?

Everything is possible. Hypothetically.

But only a few month before Active Tourer market launch, and few months into promoting Active Tourer the Concept (the minivan) - the only thing regarding trademark registration BMW are doing in this particular case is rapidly filing the trademark registrations for: Compactive Tourer, Active Tourer, Gran Tourer, BMW Active Tourer, BMW Gran Tourer, 2-series Active Tourer, 2-Series Gran tourer, 2er Active Tourer, 2er Gran Tourer. Not 1er / 1-Series Active Tourer!

And we have seen the Concept Active Tourer in standard wheelbase, while on the road there are two types of prototypes: the SWB (Active Tourer) & LWB (Gran Tourer, I guess).

@ BMW a Touring is a wagon, a (Gran) Turismo is a hatchback, a Tourer is obviously a van. Compactive / Active / Gran Tourer.

You are crazy to get rid of the 1M, those things are appreciating like crazy (in the US at least).

If not I would have waited for M235i, it is just around the corner.

What is a shooting brake? The same?

Grand Touring?

The trademark has been registered & alive, and protected at least until August 2018.

So, in the end the "GT" badge could stand for all the following trademarks / vehicle types: Grand Tourismo, Grand Touring & Gran Tourer.

It's a trademark mess, that's for sure. :D

Indeed, whilst I had flirted with selling the 1M a number of times (test drove an E92 M3 Comp pack twice and an M135i 5dr auto) I could never quite commit and each time was glad I was going back to my own supercar.

Ultimately however circumstances have changed and I am now in a situation where I have had to part with it and I'm gutted of course. The M135i is a very capable car but doesn't have that special feeling, there are loads here in Surrey in the UK and the last time I spotted a fellow 1M was several months ago. Thankfully 1M values have held well, even for my 29k miler and I even got £2.5k more than I was offered four months ago.

If not I would have waited for M235i, it is just around the corner.

Had I been able to wait, I think the M235i Gran Coupe could have been the one but its release is too far in the future.

Anyway back to the M135i, I would hope this is some form of accessory however I have grown to like to the current looks (who would have thought 12 months ago!) but a change/facelift/LCI so soon would be very frustrating.

Clearly not real based on the link to spy pics in the previous page... the grille looks bigger lights are slimmer but no where near does it look as slim as the 2er.

Here is the true LCI for the BMW 1er. Which just recently passed its two year birthday.

So, no heavy change on the front lights?

No the grille gets a bit wider to help balance out the front of the car.
The interesting thing about the 1er is not apparent in photographs because it looks flat but in real life there is some surface sculpture around the lights that really pronounce the face of the car.

In a sense of normality I have taken a 118d Urban which in Sapphire Black highlights the white application of the grille , mirrors and wheels. My favourite angle of the 1er is when you look at it from an 3/4 angle and you see how the definition of the rear wheel-arch really stands out giving the car a really defined stance. This is being implemented in many BMWs including the i3 where the rear arches when you look at it from behind , they broaden out to encase the wheels.

Ah, zero changes to the headlights? I would've thought at least, the headlights are re-shaped a little.
But then i have to say, as ugly as it is, the design grown on me a bit, in that i won't say i will never get one, like before. The other day i was on a road, a white A class with the sports pack came out from a street followed by a white 1series in standard trim and, while the A is easier on the eye at first glance, the 1er looked more serious, more sorted out (i can't believe i'm saying the 1er is sorted out), and leaner/sleeker. But still if there is a BMW to get a facial update in LCI, this IS the one, and they are not doing it.

LOL, they are seriously keeping those fugly lights?

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

What a shame, the last RWD 1er will remain ugly all it's life :(

Oh please cut the nonsense here Scott please. We are well aware of the looks, as all Europeans here see it everywhere every day.
The front is horrifyingly bad. The surface sculpting as you call it only makes it worse with the way it reflects light and casts shadows.

The grille shouldn't be wider, the freakin' lights should be smaller!!
Imo the lights are without a doubt, together with the pre facelift E65 7er, the worst design ever made by BMW.

^ yea and i mean it's a cheap fix, they could keep every piece of body panel EXCEPT the front bumper and just sharpen up the lights, done. Is this part of cost cutting or does BMW firmly believe this is an excellent design, the best they could come up with?
Having said that though, some people (i guess the minority) do think it looks good..i don't know, the only way for this thing to look good is to have it in black, so that the lights blend into the body and you don't see the lights so clearly... best to have the headlights smoked too so you see no headlights.. then this is one very fine looking car.

No, just the best they need.

I happen to like the F20 its different and does not conform to typical hatchback rules.
I am absolutely bored with the VW Golf although you cannot deny its boredom equals success.

The styling of the 1er is perfect in its stance especially how they get the driver set back almost at the B Pillar and the car is that close to the ground. The design of the rear arches really enhances the broadness of the car. I will miss my 118d Urban when it returns to the fleet garage but in its place will be something more exciting.
