The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.

Parts bin special - yes. But far more cohesive than the outgoing G.

I hope dual 12.3 displays will be an option, because I've yet to see it in any of the spyshots.

Agreed on the first part, i really like the new interior a lot.

As for the second part, the double screen will be standard in most markets. The car will cost more than an average apartment in a lot of EU countries, after all...
 
Actually looks much better put together than I thought. I love the door design actually. Curious the windows switched are black...
 
A classic legend reborn - and very well it seems. This is what separates MB from BMW and Audi. Those brands simply don't pull off legendary cars like the SLR, GTR, SLS, G-Class and of course the king of the luxury segment S-Class. Do you disagree @klier ? ;-)
 
Guess there's different versions of legendary. Because I find the BMW 3 series far more legendary than that joke of an SLR, for example. But to each his own :D
 
I have always liked th G class from my younger days back IN SA my neighbour had on on his far a old one which was not maintained and I liked it...The way this one is turning out it could actually week be the Best one yet...I think they done a superb job with the interior ..If I could change something I would change the surrounding area of the airvents with wood..

I think also a Maybach version with two rear seating is soemthing MB could Milk.

I'm really surprised about (and quite fascinated by) how they managed to keep the dash that 'slim', i.e. close to the windshield. Must have been quite challenging imo.

It’s just like the Jeep Wrangler. The box packaging and RWD drivetrain make that very doable.

I indeed forgot the Wrangler. On the other hand, that one does not come with a ton of huge displays and stuff. At least at BMW and Audi, ventilation has always been a big issue with their screens. I honestly do not see very easy ways to implement this layout here. However, I'm always thankful for enlightenment :).

Ah yes, I really didn't think about the ducting. The Wrangler's much smaller display screen definitely gave them some design freedom MB didn't have.

The Wrangler's interior looks quite nice. Looks like the G and Wrangler will no longer share the same windshield wipers.
