A8/S8 [Spyshots] 2018 Audi A8 Spy Pics & Info

Sometimes i have the impression that this board is read by a lot of people in the media and industry.

Well, surely not the Audi executives. If the next A8 comes in 2017 with that design, well... What a shame.

I am starting to have doubts about to which extent the "new" design language will be implemented.

Perhaps a repost...

Really you've seen the latest C, E & S, all slightly different sized versions of the same sedan shape.

Stop quoting stuff that's old and use new material as an argument.

Also, a 7er is not a bloated 3er. That point remains the same.

The argument just became more valid, Audi have never cloned models like Mercedes have done with the C, E & S. It's like a Russian doll. And did I mention the 3 & 7, nope I didn't, I bet you wear BMW undies.

Guess what other brand has made its two latest sedans almost a carbon copy?

At least Jaguar changed the glasshouse, same front and rear but completely different glasshouse, Mercedes didn't even do that, (apart from the Maybach S).

Oh, so a change in the glasshouse, that is simply extending it beyond the rear door makes any difference? Same front, same rear, same profile. Not even MB makes it so similar.

True. Very true. Audis used tools the same to me, but since MB started using the Xerox machine for it's designs, an A4 is as different from A8 as a Ford is to a Ferrari.
Also, MB didn't have this lineup of clones when I made that comment. Can you grasp that?

And did I mention the 3 & 7, nope I didn't, I bet you wear BMW undies.

BMW undies? Are you having a brain defect or something? You were quoting a post from AUGUST 2014.
That quote was a reply to this:

Which is no different than S Class, bloated C Class, and 7er, bloated 3er.

I don't care about what you think and the way your brain works, but I find it extremely hilarious that you managed to entertain @Mick Briesgau and talk bad about MB at the same time. That shows how much he dislikes me, hahahaha

No, Audi cloned the models from the previous generation.

There is only one who clones here at this very time and it is not Audi.

MB is in control of the Xerox machine. And they found out how it works in a way Audi has never even tried.

I somehow care a lot about your opinion.....since I feel you can still be saved from the dark side. Kiwi and Artist are too far gone sadly :(

It´s been a while since this thread gave us any news. I was reading back the nice posts by @Busty and wondering how close to the concept the A8 might end up looking.

The impression I have got from re-reading Busty´s info is that the profile is almost the same as the current D4, but with this new C-pillar Audi has been showing on the latest concepts. With thicker chrome. No accentuated wheel arches with new creases like the concept.

What about the rear and the front (besides the grille), do they look like the concept?

The interior of the Prologue concept is an abstract form of things to come from Audi.
It is not that different from the Q7 so in light of things I don`t think the next generation A8 will break any major ground in the design department. All metal switchgear would be nice instead of the black plastic vents and switchgear used in the Q7.
(The Q7 is a nice vehicle, I have been in one and played with the controls. It`s Intuitive and well built but the plastic switchgear and cheap HVAC vents hurt the quality.) I hope the plastic stuff doesn`t make it to the next generation A8.

@GTA8.5 how does the Q7 interior compare to the G11 7er and the S-Class? In terms of quality I mean.

I would put the 7-Series ahead of the Q7 in term of perceived and tangible quality without question.
The leather in the 7-Series alone felt like it came off a Rolls Royce. The design of the 7er interior is also superior I personally believe. The thing that hurts the 7er is its lack of originality in my book.

The S-Class is utterly above and beyond the Q7 in every aspect, but this is an SUV vs. the high-end fleet we are talking about. What hurts the Audi is the plastic switchgear and the use of conventional shapes. The quality and leather used in the Q7 are first rate and refined but the packaging lacks refinement. The next generation GLE will no doubt, use a high quality interior with all metal switchgear like new the E-Class. This is going to kill the look of the Q7.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
