That Car article is also saying the W213 E63 will use the new 4.0liter Bi-Turbo V8 packing up to 600hp with 553lb-ft.
These figures might be for the normal E63. The current 4-Matic S version already surpasses that torque figure.

Sounds like the new M178 V8 will replace the M157 across the AMG lineup.
(Come face/lift time, I would bank on the S63 using this engine as well.)

It is inevitable that the new 4-liter will replace the current 5.5. However, we should not take for granted that current torque levels will be preserved. We may see BMW-style higher horsepower figures and lower torque readings.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case. It is selling better than ever now and I'm sure Mercedes wants to get the next one perfect. Especially since this time the coupe and convertible will be true E-Class models. Very crucial car for them.

Those mules are not C class based, they only have a stretched C class body. For all we know it's a fully functional W213, and they simply put the real E class body on later. They use this modular platform now, so maybe they changed the way they test their cars.
